As you sail across the skies in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, you'll eventually hit snags along your journey that'll put your party to the test. If your best characters aren't strong enough to beat the enemy, then you'll likely have to take some time to level up first.

New JRPG Is Off to an Incredibly Strong Start on Steam

A brand-new action JRPG's launch on Steam achieves a new milestone on the PC gaming platform, outpacing competing games like Persona 3 Reload.

While your character's level isn't the only measurement of power in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, it definitely helps out when you're out of options. Plus, getting extra passives and skills to overcome a challenge always comes in handy. As with many other RPGs, leveling up here will take some time, but not if you know what to do.

Farming for EXP is self-explanatory: defeat enough enemies or play through the game's lengthy campaign, and you'll eventually level up and gain a small boost to your character's stats. On the other hand, Mastery Points can be earned through different ways, not just leveling up — opening chests, completing side quests, and progressing through the main story will also give you extra MSP. These are used to unlock new skills for your characters, and you'll need tons of these since everyone draws MSP from a singular pool. If you're in need of some extra power, here's how you can grind for both:

Questing

If you're just starting out, then we highly recommend finishing the main campaign and the post-game stories first. These will give you all the EXP and MSP your party needs to beat base difficulty challenges. Also, the best EXP/MSP farming spots are locked behind higher-difficulty side quests.

However, players who are taking in Granblue Fantasy: Relink on Hard difficulty may need that extra EXP/MSP injection so they can keep up with the challenges the game throws at them. If you're on this boat, then you'll want to complete all available side quests at the Quest Counter. Take some time to do side quests whenever the story gives you the option to return to town.

Once you beat the game and reach Zegagrande Legend Rank, you'll gain access to the Slimepede side quest. This is arguably the best place to get EXP and MSP since it's quick and easy to complete. For those who haven't reached this point yet, Survival side quests that pit your party against a horde of enemies will do just as nicely. One example is Fort Fumigation, a quest for Novice Skyfarers. This is especially helpful once you start collecting Crewmate Cards and unlocking new characters early on.

Use Spellbooks

Spellbooks are consumable items that you'll occasionally come across while playing Granblue Fantasy: Relink. When used, they'll give you a chunk of EXP, saving you the hassle of needing to run any additional quests. These come in three different rarities: Copper, Silver, and Gold.

You can buy Copper Spellbooks from Siero's Knickknack Shack for one Gold Dalia Badge each. To get Gold Dalia Badges, you'll need to play Quick Quests, which is basically an autofill multiplayer queue for Granblue Fantasy: Relink. It will automatically connect you with players who are looking for people to quest with — help them out, and you'll be rewarded handsomely.

As for Silver and Gold Spellbooks, you can get them by doing side quests, including the aforementioned Slimepede job. Consider this a way of earning bonus EXP while you grind for your characters.
