The Gran Turismo 7 producer Kazunori Yamauchi recently announced that the racing game will receive a new update next week, adding at least seven cars. Gran Turismo 7 is constantly receiving updates, and the previous 1.38 update introduced three new cars: Garage RCR Civic, Honda Civic Type R (FL5) ‘22, and MAZDA3 Gr.4, meaning that this upcoming one will be even bigger than that.

Gran Turismo 7 was released back in March 2022, and it was regarded by critics as a high point in the series. Gran Turismo 7 received mostly good reviews, obtaining an average of 87 on Metacritic for the PS5 version. The title was praised for its stellar, realistic graphics, car variety, and solid gameplay. However, it was also criticized by both players and critics for having microtransactions.

Gran Turismo 7 Releases Update 1.38

Version 1.38 of Gran Turismo 7 is now live and comes with the works, offering multiple brand new menus, playable cars, and even more.

Fortunately, Gran Turismo 7 has received plenty of updates recently, and Kazunori Yamauchi has just revealed the next one. With a social media post, the series’ producer shared that a big update was coming up “next week”, not yet giving an exact day for when it will be out. In the post, Yamauchi attached a dark picture that outlined seven cars that will be a part of the update. A data miner who focuses on Gran Turismo called Nenkai commented the post, affirming that these silhouettes belonged to Lexus LFA ’10, Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ’18, NISMO 400R ’96, Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 – 16 Evolution II ’91, Dodge Charger RT 426 Street Hemi ’68, Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS ’22, and Tesla Motors Model 3 Performance ’23.

Possible New Cars Coming to Grand Turismo 7

  • Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ’18
  • Dodge Charger RT 426 Street Hemi ’68
  • Lexus LFA ’10
  • Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 – 16 Evolution II ’91
  • NISMO 400R ’96
  • Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS ’22
  • Tesla Motors Model 3 Performance ’23

While these seven new cars seem to be confirmed, there was no information about any possible track or track variants that will be included when the update is out. Previous updates added new tracks to Gran Turismo 7, so while it’s still too early to know, there’s a possibility that players may see something like that.

Most players will certainly be happy to see the continuation of regular updates for Gran Turismo 7, but not all updates released so far have been met with such as positive reception. The addition of microtransactions to the racing game, when coupled with an update that reduced how many credits a player received after winning races, led several fans to review bomb Gran Turismo 7, which took its Metacritic score to below 3. Hopefully, the backlash will ensure that the racing game does not reduce credits via updates again.
