With the release date for Gran Turismo 7 looming ever closer, developer Polyphony Digital and publisher Sony are looking to ramp up the hype for the upcoming racing title. Though a leaker suggested that Gran Turismo 7 would be suffering from delays recent marketing suggests that Sony will be keeping its promise of an early March 2022 release date.

As Sony's exclusive racing game franchise, Gran Turismo stands out often as being one of the more realistic titles available to racing game fans. Gran Turismo 7 appears to be keeping up with the realism, with improved weather effects, graphics and more expansive features. Much of these were highlighted in yesterday's PlayStation State of Play stream. As the first State of Play event of 2022, Sony allowed Gran Turismo 7 to take center stage, highlighting the final reveals for fans before the upcoming release.

Alongside a trailer showing off stunning new Gran Turismo 7 gameplay, an impressive figure was revealed during the stream. According to Sony, over 400 cars will be making their way to Gran Turismo 7. This comes alongside the news that new cars will be implemented with future updates, meaning that players will have ample choice when picking out what car they want to race in. There's plenty of space to use these cars too, with 34 locations and 90 layouts for them, including real world locations and fantasy tracks.

This statistic of over 400 cars helps Sony's push to make Gran Turismo 7 the biggest game in the series so far. On top of the sheer amount of cars, there's also an overhaul to the way that players will be able to customize their vehicles in Gran Turismo 7, meaning that there will be even more variations on the large amount of vehicles already in the game. All in all, this adds up to a nearly infinite amount of ways that players will be able to race in Gran Turismo 7. From liveries to aerodynamic parts, cars and their customization options were explained in detail during the State of Play stream by director Kazunori Yamauichi.

Dozens of the vehicles that will be available in Gran Turismo 7 were confirmed previously by the marketing of Polyphony Digital and famous car manufacturers such as Ferrari, McClaren, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and more. Though these cars were officially confirmed in the State of Play stream, along with the number of cars these details had been leaked previously by a Japanese pamphlet earlier in January 2022. Still, the official confirmation allows fans to feel safe in their hype train.

Gran Turismo 7 releases March 4 on PS4 and PS5.
