Achieving mastery in the DLC expansion becomes a lot easier with these God of War Ragnarok Valhalla beginner tips and tricks.

In short, the answer to that question is a resounding yes, though as those looking to find out how long it takes to beat Valhalla will soon discover, short isn't really a word that describes the God of War Ragnarok DLC. In fact, it's a surprisingly sizable expansion, especially as players are able to download it without spending a dime.

How Long to Beat God of War Ragnarok Valhalla (Main Story Length)

It will take most players between four and four and a half hours to complete the God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC, give or take thirty minutes or so. Although there may be some slight variance depending on which difficulty setting players choose, the difference between a Show Me Will playthrough and one on Show Me Prowess shouldn't be too drastic provided players are able to keep Kratos alive. In theory, the same could be said of playing the game on the hardest difficulty setting, Show Me Mastery, though this is much easier said than done.

It's worth noting that Valhalla's roguelite elements make it an excellent option for completionists, as there's still plenty to see and do even after players have finished the main story. Those hoping to complete all of the mastery challenges that are on offer and max out all of Kratos' stats can expect to spend considerably longer with the expansion, with some people reporting playtimes above the ten-hour mark.

Upon finishing God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla DLC, players will receive a few different rewards. First, they'll unlock a few new areas within Valhalla's Upper Realms; these being The Desert of Lost Souls, The Aegean Boat, and The Forum. The real prize, however, is the Legacy Spartan Rage path, which allows players to use the Sword of Olympus in a regular playthrough and a new Spartan armor set that gives them the ability to switch between young and old Kratos with the push of a button. The latter can be used both in Valhalla and during a regular playthrough, providing players with a fairly compelling reason to replay the main story on God of War Ragnarok's New Game Plus mode, if they haven't already.

How Does Valhalla Compare to Other DLC?

Valhalla is one of the best DLC expansions in recent memory and would still be well worth experiencing even if it were priced at twenty or thirty bucks. The fact that it's being given away for free makes it all the more compelling and serves as a reminder that not every developer is looking to milk their players dry. It would be nice if more developers and publishers took a similar approach moving forward, but for the time being, Valhalla goes firmly against the grain and is worthy of all the praise and recognition that it will undoubtedly receive.
