Gotham Knights’ release date is a balm for fans who are excited about another game set in the DC universe. Gotham Knights is its own IP with a fresh continuity, and its emphasis on Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood as its playable protagonists separates it further from existing franchises.

Today’s walkthrough from WB Games Montreal showed gameplay for its remaining two protagonists, Nightwing and Red Hood, and detailed a lot of information about its features as an action-RPG. But as another exciting point of interest, Gotham Knights has also announced that pre-orders are now available, as well as what each edition comes with.

Gotham Knights may finally be prepared for concrete marketing now as it was revealed today that three editions are available for pre-order: a Standard Edition, a Deluxe Edition, and a Collector’s Edition. On a recent Taiwanese listing it was suggested that Gotham Knights would be omitting its last-gen editions, despite the game’s marketing saying otherwise. This was not confirmed until now, and it is official after today’s pre-order announcement that Gotham Knights will be available exclusively on next-gen consoles, with editions for PS4 and Xbox One consoles no longer an option.

This may be upsetting to fans who have been unable to procure a next-gen console themselves. However, it likely means that the final product will be in the best shape possible when Gotham Knights meets its new release date, and hopefully look and play as well as it can on next-gen consoles exclusively.

Besides the base game, Gotham Knights’ Deluxe Edition includes a DLC called the Visionary Pack, which is said to contain exclusive gear, cosmetics, and character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series that are dubbed “Beyond Suitstyle.” Gotham Knights’ Collector’s Edition contains the Deluxe Edition’s goodies as well as an augmented reality collectible pin, a 16-page media book, Gotham Knights’ Gotham City map, and a four-character statue diorama.

Further, as a general pre-order bonus, players have access to a 233 Kustom Batcycle skin that pays homage to its first appearance in DC’s Detective Comics #233. Because every character has access to the Batcycle in Gotham Knights, it will likely be a cosmetic that players can apply to any character’s bike. Gotham Knights may still choose to share more before it launches, but these three editions are a welcome surprise to fans who also got to see their first look at gameplay for Nightwing and Red Hood in today's presentation walkthrough.

Gotham Knights is currently scheduled to release on October 25, 2022, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
