With Batman gone in Gotham Knights, it is up to the bat family to step up and watch over the streets of Gotham City. With nightly patrols and Batman's case files to get through, the team of Jason/Red Hood, Dick/Nightwing, Barbara/Batgirl, and Tim/Robin certainly have their work cut out for them.

Gotham City is known to be one of the worst places to live in the DC Universe, and now that its protector is gone, crime has started to rise once more. Gotham Knights, whilst not part of the Arkhamverse franchise from Rocksteady, still feels comparable with the award-winning Arkham games.

Featuring a unique version of Gotham City, the open-world version of Gotham Knights is much bigger than previous Batman Arkham titles. This time round players also get to see Gotham mostly riot/prison/scarecrow gas free, which gives a whole new feel to the gameplay loop. Talking of the gameplay loop, fighting crime is one of the main elements outside of playing through the primary case files.

Nightly Patrols

While fighting crime players may find themselves stopping a prison van breakout, taking down enemy bases, or even using AR to investigate a crime scene. Many crimes will occur on a night patrol however, the premeditated crimes are the ones that will count towards most XP and the majority of side quests objectives. Getting to these locations is much easier with heroic travel unlocked, this will make getting from one building to the next much quicker.

Finding Clues

clues

To unlock premeditated crimes players must first find clues. These clues can be found by fighting minor crimes on the map and defeating enemies. When the enemy is on the ground, small red magnifying glasses will appear and must be walked over to collect.

Upon returning to the Belfry, the clues will be cashed in to unlock premeditated crimes on the map for the following night's patrol. The premeditated crimes will appear on the map of Gotham City as a red triangle, they will also appear in the list of available missions on the menu screen.

AR Scanner

Another way of unlocking premeditated crimes on the map is by finding a crime scene. Using the AR built into their cowls, the bat family must observe and piece together crime scenes correctly to further the investigation. Once the crime scene has been solved, a red triangle with a question mark will pop up on the map, and heading to the location will uncover the next crime needing to be resolved.

To unlock the Not On My Watch trophy or achievement, simply clear all of these crimes in one night. A good recommendation is to do this early on in a playthrough as city crime difficulty takes a difficulty hike further into the game.

Gotham Knights is available now on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
