Gotham Knights is an exciting and original experience for DC fans who want to immerse themselves in the dark universe. The open-world RPG invites players to put on their crime-fighting shoes and protect Gotham City from those rising into power now that Batman is no longer in the picture. Moving through the storyline requires enemy battles, stealth missions, and puzzles. A repeating puzzle in the game will have players investigate and solve crimes using context clues and valuable items to answer important who, what, where, and why questions.

One of these puzzles is found in a secret hideout for the Court of Owls. The Court of Owls is a secret society that has been doing shady practices in Gotham City that have led to the death of significant figures. Red Hood, Batgirl, Robin, and Nightwing are carrying out a full investigation of the Court that takes them to the hideout. Players must solve the puzzle to move forward in the story and discover their plans.

Court of Owls Secret Hideout

The first encounter with the Court of Owls in Gotham Knights leaves players with a unique key after stumbling upon a mass grave site for which the Court is responsible. The next step after escaping the death pit is finding where the key belongs. The search leads to the esteemed Gotham Gazette in the West End of Gotham City.

Players will find a carving of an owl-like figure in the wall at the top of the building encased in a green glow. To use the key, interact with the door, which will open by itself, showing a hidden room pathway. The pathway leads to a large empty circular room. Scanning the room will highlight the essential items, and players need to investigate a pinned piece of paper on a wooden letterbox. The paper seems to be detailing an order the Court received regarding an assassination. After reviewing the order, players are urged to investigate the table, where they will find the puzzle.

Order Investigation

After looking over the order, players will need to interact with the table holding a map of Gotham to the left of the letterbox. There is another order on the table that the heroes must decipher by answering two questions:

• What are the Court's instructions?
• Where is the target location?

The answer can be found using the items on the table. Four pegs signify areas in Gotham City, and four cards contain images and old English text that translates to actions. The actions include purging a location, killing a target, kidnapping a mark, or threatening a group. To solve the puzzle, match up the right place with one of the actions. The answer is found in the order on the table using the images of the symbols. First, select the card with the crossed swords and shield that signify purging a location. The second answer is the peg with the blade pointing toward the Gotham River. Once both are selected and marked, players can solve the puzzle to reveal their next mission.
