Gotham Knights began a thread of brief character spotlight showcases back in June as a marketing effort. The first character to be shown was Dick Grayson’s Nightwing, followed by Tim Drake’s Robin.

These character spotlights give a slightly more intimate look at Gotham Knights’ playable characters, hinting at their character’s motivations while offering edits of extended gameplay and unique cosmetics skins. It was only a matter of time before the next playable character’s spotlight would be revealed, but WB Games Montreal has decided to take its latest to San Diego Comic-Con for a special look at Gotham Knights’ only female character.

Following the previous two character spotlights that were released for Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal has arrived at SDCC this week with a comparable look at Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl. In this spotlight, Batgirl acknowledges her past moniker as Oracle and her responsibility to protect Gotham City, just as her father Jim Gordon did. It seems as if her father’s death will rightfully have a strong narrative impact on her character in Gotham Knights, as a cinematic shot of her looking up at a giant monument to him suggests.

The gameplay for Batgirl does appear similar to how it looked during Gotham Knights’ first gameplay walkthrough around the game’s initial announcement, with animations for aerial takedowns and AoE Batarang abilities present. But that is a positive, as her gameplay already looked fairly polished back when it was originally shown. Interestingly, this spotlight reveals that her tonfa weapon can be transformed into a nunchaku in combat.

Batgirl’s unique cape-gliding is also depicted, though it is unknown how extensive the controls are for maneuvering her around Gotham Knights’ open-world Gotham City via cape. The footage then cuts to Batgirl gliding toward what appears to be Blackgate Penitentiary, where a riot is taking place that may be important to Gotham Knights’ narrative.

Batgirl also features highly distinct cosmetic gear, with one being a purple suit of layered armor with yellow lining and a full cowl with white lenses. Another cosmetic shown in the spotlight bears a similarly armored bodysuit, but the cowl features an opening at the top where her hair is drawn out in a ponytail.

Besides other shots depicting team-up combat with other Bat Family members, the spotlight also shares a look at a bewildering-looking brute enemy with a beastly guise, as well as reminds fans that pre-ordering Gotham Knights unlocks a rare Batcycle cosmetic. With close looks now at Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl, that leaves only Red Hood to receive a final character spotlight in Gotham Knights.

Gotham Knights is scheduled to release on October 25 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
