Free Lives' Gorn, a physics-based gladiatorial simulator, will be available through PlayStation VR on May 19 with the help of Devolver Digital and 24Bit Games. The game will also include a new Piñata Mode that will make paper mache enemies explode with candy according to the PlayStation Blog announcement Tuesday.

First released in 2017, the game focuses on "over-the-top" combat with animations meant to bring emphasis to impacts utilizing motion controls to allow players "to move in whatever way they please." Gorn joins a bevy of titles announced or already released on the platform, such as The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.

According to Free Lives Producer Adone Kitching, who wrote the PlayStation Blog post, as a gladiator players should work to "entertain" as much as they do to survive, and the developers are "still surprised by the creative combat styles" they see fans utilize. Vader Immortal, a Star Wars title also focused on its weapon-based combat system, will be coming to PlayStation VR this summer.

With its vast amount of games, Sony is clearly focused on helping VR become a strong contender in the gaming space. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Xbox Head Phil Spencer has said VR will "not be a focus for the company" with its upcoming Xbox Series X.
