It's like they say. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Because of their reputations as fictional beasts, and because putting them in the same movie brought in plenty of fans and critical praise, the producers at Legendary Entertainment behind Godzilla vs. Kong are making sure that everything goes as swimmingly well for the film's sequel. That starts with filming said sequel in the same place.

Much like its predecessor, the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong will be filmed in Australia later this year. More specifically, the film will be shot at Gold Coast and other areas in Southeast Queensland state, which will mark it as the third film in Warner Bros.' Monsterverse that's been filmed in those areas. The Australian federal government's Location Incentive Program will give $11.8 million to the film's budget, while an extra $4.66 million will also be contributed via state screen agency Screen Queensland and its Production Attraction Strategy.

Producer Eric McLeod was ecstatic about filming in Australia again, citing the government and the atmosphere as the reason why he's excited about another go-round in the down under. “The highly skilled crews, first-rate facilities, and unique locations make filming in Australia a great experience," McLeod said in a statement through Screen Queensland. "The support from both the federal government as well as Queensland has always been critical to our success in achieving a high level of filmmaking and an unparalleled audience experience.”

The feeling is certainly mutual for the Australian government, as having the blockbuster be filmed in Australia is expected generate $88 million in revenue for their economy. Furthermore, the production will employ more than 500 local cast and crew members, and use more than 750 extras. They have reason to expect this given that the previous Godzilla vs. Kong film grossed $101 million in North America and $468 million worldwide.

So, all in all, it's a "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" sort of situation here. That's the perfect sort of situation for both a film crew and the area that's allowing them to be filmed. Both parties mutually benefit from such an arrangement. Especially during such a horrid time when plenty lost their jobs. It's great to see that, with the pandemic finally reaching its endgame, job opportunities are opening up for those who want to participate in show business. Better yet, such arrangements are being made where everyone wins. As it turns out, not everything surrounding Hollywood life is bad.

Funny enough, these are the only details about the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong sequel that fans know about. Over time, fans should get more details surrounding who is going to be in the movie, though it shouldn't be too hard to guess since this is another installment in a cinematic universe. At least studios won't have to bide their time to start on their next project. Here's to hoping fans don't have to deal with another pandemic any time in the near future so that it doesn't mess everything up.

Godzilla vs. Kong can currently be watched on HBO Max.
