Godzilla vs. Kong hit theaters during a summer of quarantine and left soon after. The film was a big spectacle for fans of the two Hollywood giants, and now fans will get a sequel that has finally started filming.

The second Godzilla vs. Kong will pick up where the last film left off, with the Titans parting ways after their battle against each other and then a common foe. Hopefully, fans can see even more monsters from the lore of the MonsterVerse. The Godzilla films were praised for introducing a number of popular Titans such as Mecha Godzilla, Mothra, and even Ghidorah.

On Twitter, it was announced that filming on Godzilla vs. Kong 2 has begun and, of course, plot details are not known. The ongoing rumor is that the sequel will feature Kong's son and Godzilla won't be present. This is not likely, but the title card does say "origins," so here's to hoping that more details are officially released before the end of the year. Ideally, the movie should continue after the previous film rather than going backwards. Fans have seen a good amount of these monsters despite the cut Godzilla vs. Kong footage, but there are still plenty more that fans have yet to see grace the big screen. Also, there were easter eggs for both Mecha-Ghidorah and Destroyah, but fans will no doubt have to wait in order to see of those monsters appear in Godzilla vs. Kong 2.

A lot of was set up in Godzilla vs. Kong. They found a new land where Kong was able to roam free, while also discovering numerous species that have yet to surface. They also established a new power scale via the partnership of Kong and Godzilla after defeating the latter's mechanical counterpart. There's a lot to work with if they pick the right path.

On the other hand, the plot did wrap things up nicely. If they chose to never make another sequel, it really would've worked because the ending was very satisfying for the most part. Maybe going in the past is the only right direction so they can introduce more elements to this world of titans, perhaps in the Godzilla series for Apple TV Plus. Hopefully, they have a game plan, that way fans won't get tired of the franchise anytime soon, as this is the perfect era for a movie of this calibre to exist.

Godzilla vs. Kong 2 is set for a March 15, 2024, release date.
