Anticipation has steadily grown for Godfall, the PS5's first officially announced title, since it was announced at The Game Awards in December. However, with little news to go on for the last month besides the reveal trailer and an interview with Creative Director Keith Lee, everything we know about Godfall basically comes down to the genre definition Looter Slasher.

While this silence from Gearbox and Counterplay Games has lead to excitement for Godfall petering out under the weight of all other gaming news that has released over the past month, players are still immediately rallying to any glimpse of the game that they can get. Thankfully, a recent Reddit post has gone ahead and given players exactly what they were looking for, with a few seconds of gameplay footage from Godfall.

RELATED: A Look at Godfall's Inspirations

The Reddit post, uploaded by user YeaQuarterDongIng, shows about six seconds of combat footage from an unreleased trailer for Godfall. This is the second quick look players have gotten of Godfall's combat system, the first time also being only a few short seconds of how the Looter Slasher will approach fighting. From the two short clips together, there is a lot of nuance that can be parsed from the combat, such as character abilities allowing them to attack from range, close distances quickly, and parry, but exactly what the feel of the game will be is still up in the air.

According to the poster, this short clip of gameplay is from a trailer passed around from within Counterplay and Gearbox in early 2019, so there is not likely to be a new trailer coming with this footage. Some commenters on the original Reddit post have even begun picking apart the graphics and other visuals shown that demonstrates that the footage is far from a finished, or polished, product. For now, the best look at the game that is available is still the reveal trailer from The Game Awards that released in December.

It should be noted, that while there is plenty that players can take away from this video, such as an idea for how the gameplay will look, this is far from how the full release of Godfall will look and feel. There is a lot of extra work that has gone into the game since this trailer was recorded, and there is still most of a year until Godfall or the PS5 launches next Holiday season. However, from what is shown in the clip, fans of hack and slash titles like God of War and Darksiders should be pleased with the first PS5 title.

Godfall is set to release in Holiday 2020, for PC and PS5.
