The console gaming world is gearing up and anxiously awaiting the launch of the PlayStation 5, which is just a week away, and the launch titles that will be joining Sony's newest console on day one. Counterplay Games has just ramped up the hype for its next-generation launch title, Godfall, by holding a celebration stream where the developer showed off a new action-packed trailer for the looter-slasher title.

The exciting new trailer for Godfall contained a ton of content that catered to audiences interested in learning about the story of the game and seeing more fast-paced action. Between action shots that showed off the main character slashing through tons of enemies, players were given tidbits about Godfall's story which is setting up to conclude with an explosive family reunion featuring Macros, the game's main antagonist. Players see Orin, the main character of Godfall, fight and fail throughout the launch trailer, however, the trailer shows that collecting tons of loot and defeating enemies, specifically Macros' lieutenants, will set players up for success.

For the uninitiated, Godfall is an action-RPG focused on melee combat and providing players with tons of items and different loot to collect, hence the name "looter-slasher." The game's launch trailer keeps up with this aspect of Godfall by showcasing tons of weapons and different gear throughout the trailer and, not so subtly, telling players they need better weapons to advance on their journey. During the gameplay portions, players can see different orbs on the ground that represent different loot akin to how loot dropped in Borderlands, though the weapons may not be as comical.

It seems as though players have been hearing about Godfall for a very long time, and while that may have something to do with the marathon that is 2020, Godfall was one of the first games announced for the next-generation of consoles. During The Game Awards show in 2019 Godfall was announced and confirmed as the first PlayStation 5 title, giving fans of the platform something to look forward to and officially beginning the push toward console gaming's next-generation.

Godfall isn't the only PlayStation 5 launch title Sony will be promoting over the next few days before release and throughout the holiday season as players who were lucky enough to secure a PlayStation 5 will have a few solid games to choose from for their new console on launch day. Joining Godfall on the PlayStation 5 next week is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the highly-anticipated spin-off to 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man title, and the incredibly exciting remake of Demon's Souls from Bluepoint Games.

Godfall releases November 12 on PC and PS5.
