With the successful launch of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart by Insomniac Games, it comes as no surprise other companies under the PlayStation brand wish to give some congratulations. One of these is Santa Monica Studio, the developer behind God of War, by sharing a piece of crossover art between these two franchises.

With this being the first game to continue on from the events of 2013's Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart had a lot to live up to. The franchise had only one release on the PS4, Ratchet & Clank (2016), which was a semi-remake of the first game. This game is Insomniac's second game for the PS5, following its web-swinging adventures in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Santa Monica Studio found it celebratory that with this game's incredible opening, a fun piece of crossover art has been shared. This piece of art involves Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet meeting with Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir.

This charming piece of art was drawn by Dela Longfish, the Lead Character Concept Artist at Santa Monica Studio. Some of his important contributions to God of War was the new design of Kratos, his son Atreus, and many more. The art itself is drawn in roughly the same style and tone as Ratchet & Clank, where even Kratos looks quite cartoony and jovial, as opposed to his typical demeanor. The way these two franchises end up crossing over is based on the rifts seen in Rift Apart. The sight of Atreus sticking his hand through the Rift portal to allow Mimir to meet these intrepid heroes is sure to bring a smile to a fan of both franchises.

This has not been the only of piece of art that had been shared thanks to the critical acclaim and reception of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.  Fellow Sony developer, Sucker Punch Productions, had also shared a piece of crossover art on Twitter as well between Ghost of Tsushima and Rift Apart showing Rivet petting one of the foxes.

Sony fans are to get a kick from this, seeing these companies now having a piece of official crossover art. This art should help whet the appetite of those currently waiting for the untitled sequel of God of War. The top priority was the safety of Santa Monica Studio's staff during development during the pandemic.

Many are hoping to see a teaser for this week, but it seems highly unlikely. Sony is skipping this year again, after the decision to hold its own events since 2019. Fans are going to have to wait for the next PlayStation event to see Atreus and Kratos again.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is available now for PS5.
