Back in February, God of War received a PS5 upgrade that allowed the game to be played at 4K60. That's a pretty good reason for anyone to return to the game, but it should also be noted that any gamer doesn't really need a reason to play God of War. Many still hail it as one of the best PS4 exclusives, and hype for its sequel remains at a fever pitch.

Either way, it's not surprising to see the game still be part of Sony's marketing. On July 8, ahead of the scheduled PlayStation State of Play, Sony released a new ad featuring God of War. Various clips from the game play as a dad thinks of it as a story for his son, before moving rooms and picking up a PS5 controller. In the background, the unique design of the PS5 is undeniable, but it's upside down.

Seemingly first noticed by industry figure Nibel, the 26-second mark of the God of War video clearly shows the disc version PS5 upside down. The most obvious indicator is that the disc drive on the top instead of the bottom, which is quite the hilarious mistake on Sony's part. It doesn't take away from the poignancy of the ad, nor is it likely to be spotted by too many folks, but it's funny for PS5 owners nonetheless.

This is partially because there are multiple reports of first-time users accidentally setting up the PS5 disc version upside down. Aside from potential damage to the discs for inserting them the wrong way, it's worth mentioning that there aren't widespread reports of major damages due to this, but it's still not recommended. Many may not immediately realize it if they don't commonly use discs, and while those who only play online may opt for the disc-free version of the PS5, many PS5 owners are likely happy with either version of the model.

After all, they are still notoriously hard to get hands on, so many God of War fans may still be playing it on their PS4s. This sort of limited availability, but also honoring those who just can't upgrade to a PS5 yet, are likely one of the reasons that Sony recently confirmed the God of War sequel for PS4 and PS5. Of course, playing that game is some time away, but fans should be wary that they aren't using their PS5s incorrectly when/if they upgrade. If Sony can make that mistake, anyone can.

A God of War sequel is in development for PS4 and PS5.
