God of War Ragnarok confirms that the game will have a transmog system for its armor. While the key aspect of armor is protection, a lot of gamers don't mind sacrificing some of the statistics of their gear in order to look their best. However, some games allow for players to have the best of both worlds, letting them put on whatever armor gives them the best chance of survival while making it look like an entirely different set. Previously, these transmog systems have appeared in online titles like World of Warcraft and Destiny 2.

Transmog features have been brought to single-player games as well, allowing a gamer to look their best while roaming through vast open worlds. Horizon Forbidden West added a transmog system in an update post-launch, and while these mechanics aren't necessarily expected for all upcoming games, they can add that extra quality of life for a lot of players. One title that has shown a lot of quality-of-life features in its recent trailers is God of War Ragnarok with its accessibility systems and upcoming photo mode.

Now, God of War Ragnarok is again showing off a new feature coming to the game by informing fans that they will be able to transmog their armor. In a Q&A on Sony Santa Monica's official Discord, God of War Ragnarok's Combat Design Lead Mihir Sheith stated that the ability to transmog armor is in the game. However, Sheith didn't state how a player could use this feature, perhaps suggesting that it won't be a central mechanic.

God of War Ragnarok's release date is fast approaching, and as fans count down the days, they will likely be happy to see that they won't have to give Kratos a less stylish look in order to offer him the best statistics in combat. The ability to change Kratos' appearance without sacrificing the effectiveness of his gear will likely be much utilized when God of War Ragnarok's photo mode releases after launch, as it means social media will be flooded with tons of variations of the God of War.

While there are plenty of exciting details coming out about God of War Ragnarok online in the days leading up to its release, some fans are staying clear of the discussion around the game until they have it themselves. This is because early releases of God of War Ragnarok have led to some major spoilers already beginning to circulate online, a problem that also reared its head prior to the launch of other prominent titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem.

God of War: Ragnarok is scheduled to release on November 9, 2022, on PS4 and PS5.
