One of the leading voice actors in God of War: Ragnarok has hinted about the future of the series during a panel over the weekend. His comments have caused a great deal of speculation and led many to wonder whether a sequel to God Of War: Ragnarok may already be in the works.

Ben Prendergast, a prolific voice actor who has worked on a number of different games over the years, was speaking at a panel for the yearly gaming event PAX East this weekend. Prendergast is the iconic voice of Tyr from the latest game, God of War Ragnarok. Tyr is a mysterious character who spends a lot of time assisting Kratos and Atreus on their journey, leading to a big moment towards the end of the game. Fans have been unsurprisingly riled up by a seemingly offhand comment Prendergast made during the panel.

While those attending the panel were expecting an exciting first-hand look into the making of the game and a fan retrospective on the monumental achievement it represents, they walked away with even more than this. Prendergast, at one point during the panel, was discussing the future of Tyr's role in the franchise as a whole, when he dropped a small but mighty bombshell by telling the audience this game "isn't the last you've seen of Tyr". Tyr is one of many characters whose story is left far from over at the end of the game. There are plenty of other open threads and loose ends left available to accommodate a sequel to God of War: Ragnarok such as the unseen Sinmara.

God of War Ragnarok New Game Plus

This hint was dropped right before the panel went on to the Q&A section, so naturally a lot of the questions surrounded the possible sequel. Given God of War: Ragnarok's sales of over 11 million copies in just a few months from release, few would have been surprised by a sequel announcement, though fans were eager for details. Prendergast went on to say that he had in fact signed an NDA and only knew a little about the planned future of the series, and couldn't say more than he had already revealed.

Like its predecessor, God of War: Ragnarok is unlikely to get any DLC. This really leaves only one conclusion to be drawn from Prendergast's comments: the character of Tyr will return in an entirely new game. Given the popularity of both the most recent entries in the franchise, a sequel to Ragnarok is to be fully expected, though what may have surprised many fans is how soon the tacit announcement arrived. Though nothing is officially confirmed, Ragnarok was not announced as a sequel to 2018's God of War until 2020, around two years after its release, but it seems that something may certainly be in the works.

God of War: Ragnarok is available now on PS4 and PS5.
