While God of War Ragnarok is a popular game, it has the annoying tendency to be too helpful with its puzzle sections, which one player illustrates in a humorous video where the frustration gets a little too much, prompting a surprising response. It's almost certain that other fans of God of War Ragnarok feel the same about overly-eager NPCs.

God of War Ragnarok is widely considered one of the best games of 2022 - it performed well at various prestigious rewards ceremonies like DICE and The Game Awards, even nominated for the prestigious Game of the Year award. While it didn't snag Game of the Year, it did end up taking home several others, such as Best Audio Design, Best Action/Adventure, and Best Performance - the latter of which was awarded to Christopher Judge. However, it appears that even a game of this caliber is bound to have some hidden flaws - but whether it is a flaw or not likely depends entirely on who you ask.

Redditor International-Pop368 was on their fourth playthrough when they finally had enough of NPCs giving them what was by this point completely unnecessary advice to overcome a simple puzzle. Instead, the player hurls the bomb at Freya, seemingly out of frustration at her incessant chatter. This seems to indicate that, in spite of God of War Ragnarok being a bestseller, it has limited replayability for some players. To see the full video, click here.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tone down tips or NPC dialogue in God of War Ragnarok at this time. Many gamers complain that modern titles almost play themselves through things like quest markers, hints, and in some cases, pathways that light up to guide the player to their objective. With regard to puzzles, the greatest joy is figuring it out oneself, and while some players may not be too keen on puzzle sequences, there are many who would prefer not to be spoonfed.

Granted, accessibility features are a boon for the more casual gamer who may not play games very often or even those picking up a console for the first time, hoping to experience the thrill of gaming for the first time ever. That said, it would be nice if developers countenanced the fact that more experienced gamers would prefer to at least have the option to tone down these otherwise helpful hints. Perhaps a future update to God of War Ragnarok might add some options to either dial back the otherwise helpful NPC dialogue or even remove it altogether.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
