  • God of War Ragnarok could potentially make its way to PC by November 2024 if recent trends continue.

God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to Santa Monica's hit reboot, God of War, is one of the most praised games of the last few years, boasting engaging gameplay, memorable characters, and a highly compelling narrative. It earned so much praise, in fact, that it was a true contender for the 2022 Game of the Year award. Now, God of War Ragnarok's legacy lives on as the possibility of a PC port looks more likely with every passing day.

For the last several years, PlayStation has been making a habit of porting its biggest exclusives to PC, so it's likely the 2022 Game of the Year runner-up will eventually find its way there as well. Fortunately, judging by Sony's history with porting PlayStation exclusives, God of War Ragnarok's PC launch may be rapidly approaching.

PlayStation's History With Exclusives Receiving PC Ports

  • Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 in February 2017; PC in August 2020)
  • God of War (PS4 in April 2018; PC in January 2022)
  • Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4 in September 2018; PS5 in November 2020; PC in August 2022)
  • Days Gone (PS4 in April 2019; PC in May 2021)
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS4 and PS5 in November 2020; PC in November 2022)
  • Returnal (PS5 in April 2021; PC in February 2023)
  • Horizon Forbidden West (PS5 in February 2022; PC in March 2024)

Aside from a few outliers, most of PlayStation's exclusives from 2020 on have received a PC port two years after their initial release date, sometimes even down to the same month. God of War Ragnoarok's predecessor, God of War, received a PC port four years after its initial PS4 release, but this is likely only because Sony was probably giving more attention to the upcoming launch of the PS5 at the time.

Furthermore, it launched on PC in January 2022, whereas it was first released in April 2018. Nevertheless, January and April are still fairly close to each other, which simultaneously sets a certain expectation for God of War Ragnarok's release window. This, and the fact that recent PlayStation-exclusive PC ports have mostly honored the second anniversary of the game, spells good news for Ragnarok.

When God of War Ragnarok Could Launch on PC

God of War Ragnarok launched on PS5 on November 9, 2022, which means its PC port release date could be right around the corner. Just as most of PlayStation's more recent exclusives have been ported to PC almost exactly two years after their initial release date, God of War Ragnarok could be making its way to PC this year — specifically, in November. Not every exclusive has honored this window down to the month, however, but they have generally fallen within at least a month or two of their second anniversary. This means that if Ragnarok doesn't launch on PC in November, then it could be either October or December instead.

Although there has been no announcement about God of War Ragnarok coming to PC yet, most PlayStation-exclusive PC ports have historically been announced within two months of their release date, so Ragnarok 's PC port may be announced sometime in September if it is indeed happening.

Rumors of a God of War Ragnarok PC port have yet to be confirmed by Santa Monica and Sony, but it is more than likely going to happen. As Ragnarok initially launched on the PS5 in November 2022, it could land on PC by the end of the year, so God of War enthusiasts should keep their ear to the ground for official updates as the year moves forward.
