God of War Ragnarok featured plenty of memorable characters that have stamped their mark on the entire series including the likes of Odin, Thor, and Angrboda. These characters were not only essential for the story, but their actions often shaped the different realms that Kratos and Atreus traveled through, either by introducing new enemies or by offering insight into certain collectibles. However, one God of War Ragnarok character, the Lady of the Forge, has such important powers that she will more than likely make another appearance in future God of War content.

The Lady of the Forge is a mermaid found in Svartalfheim, the realm of the dwarves, where she lives inside the Forge and assists the dwarves by helping create magical weapons capable of taking down a god. These capabilities were likely the reason that Odin sought to use the dwarves for Asgard’s benefit, and while it is never mentioned in God of War Ragnarok, it is possible that the Lady of the Forge was the one that helped create other weapons like Thor’s hammer or Odin’s spear Gungir. Players first caught a glimpse of the Lady of the Forge when she helped Brok and Kratos create the legendary Draupnir Spear, which would ultimately be used to kill Heimdall. With the power to create god-killing weapons, players will likely see the Lady of the Forge again.

Atreus and Sindri Spin-Off

Sindri and Atreus’ relationship was arguably the most turbulent in God of War Ragnarok. They start out as close friends, and ultimately end with in the dwarf blaming Atreus for the death of his brother, Brok. Following the battle at Asgard that took the life of Odin and ended Kratos’ Norse Saga, Sindri remained angry at Atreus and almost seemed like he would continue his mission to avenge his brother. This could lead to a potential spin-off game where players will be able to control Atreus as he seeks out the last surviving Giants while attempting to win his former friend back over or survive a boss fight against Sindri.

If God of War goes down this route, there are a few ways that it could re-introduce the Lady of the Forge. Without Brok or Sindri to assist Atreus in upgrading his weapons and armor, he will likely need to find a new way to get better gear. The Lady of the Forge would fit this role perfectly, especially with Atreus’ unique power to communicate with all sorts of creatures. On the other hand, players could see Sindri ask the Lady to craft him a weapon that he could use to kill Atreus since Atreus is also half-god and may need a special weapon to be killed.

God of War Ragnarok DLC

kratos

While God of War Ragnarok did complete the Norse saga of the series, there were still quite a few loose ends left at the end of the game. Kratos and Freya still strive to fix the Norse world and restore some semblance of peace to the realms. This means going up against new enemies that may have sided with Odin, or even an invading force looking to take advantage of the weakened lands. A God of War Ragnarok DLC could introduce new gods that would require all new weapons to defeat.

Once again, Kratos cannot go to Brok and Sindri to upgrade his arms. Since Kratos seemed to form some sort of connection with the Lady, evidenced by the fact that she forged the Draupnir Spear without even noticing Brok, she could aid the Ghost of Sparta once more. This could lead to her making an appearance in a God of WarRagnarok DLC, with The Forge being used as the area where Kratos can upgrade his weapons and armor, and possibly even forge a new weapon that could help him defeat a new threat to his new home.

The Lady of the Forge played a vital, albeit small role in God of War Ragnarok, and with the current state of the series, she likely could return as the character that will upgrade Kratos or Atreus’ weapons and armor. Whether the next game in the series will follow Kratos or Atreus has not yet been announced, but either finding the surviving Giants as Atreus or safeguarding the remaining Realms as Kratos seems like the logical next step. However the story is continued, the Lady of the Forge could play a more significant role in a future God of War Ragnarok spin-off or DLC.

God of War Ragnarok is currently available for PS4 and PS5.
