God of War Ragnarok's fifteenth chapter, Hunting for Solace, takes place after Atreus' return from Asgard. Both he and Kratos reach Midgard after walking through the Mystic Gateway, where Atreus asks if he can hunt deer; Kratos, with no other ideas, obliges his son's request and accompanies him on his journey.

Following Atreus into the Upper Wildwoods, the two begin their hunt on the opposite side of a fallen tree. After following the path ahead for a while, they come across an elk, but Kratos places his hand over Atreus' bow, preventing him from firing his arrow. Passing through the King's Grave will lead them to a Mystic Gateway. Upon returning to Sindri's House, a cutscene will play in which the gang discusses their next move. Freya believes that the only way to defeat Odin is to unite the realms against him. Freya, Freyr, Hildisvini, and Sindri set out to various reaches of the world to put this plan into action, leaving Kratos and Atreus to travel to Muspelheim to do the same.
