As players make their way through the Abandoned Village area in God of War Ragnarok's sixth chapter, they'll eventually reach a point where they need to use a crane to cross a broken bridge. Though the chest itself isn't immediately obvious, observant players will likely spot one or two of the torches with runes on them that typically indicate the presence of a Nornir Chest.

The Abandoned Village Nornir Chest is a little different from some of the other chests in God of War Ragnarok, in that players will need to use the environment around them to get it open rather than simply relying on Kratos' weapons alone. Unlocking the chest is far from easy, though, with the right strategy, it can be achieved without too much fuss.

How to Unlock the Abandoned Village Nornir Chest

Unlike many of the previous Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarok, the Abandoned Village chest isn't quite on the main quest path, as players will need to backtrack a little in order to reach it. It's on the other side of the broken bridge beneath the wooden structure itself and can be reached by heading down the slope to the right of the bridge after moving the crane to the right position. Before they can open the chest though, players will first need to ignite three torches.

After lighting the brambles and the contents of the bucket hanging from the crane using Kratos' Blades of Chaos, players should spin the crane to the right. They'll then need to look for the torch just to the right of the spot from which they lit the brambles on fire and use the Blades of Chaos again to pull the bucket towards the torch. Doing so will cause the bucket to swing into the torch, igniting it in the process.

Next, players should spin the crane back to the left using the Leviathan Axe and then hop across to the platform on the other side. After using the bucket to ignite the brambles on the far side of the bridge as intended, they'll then want to grab the bucket with the Blades of Chaos once again. This time, however, they should pull the bucket to the left so that it lights the second torch. Players won't actually be able to see the torch from their current position but should be able to see the blue flames it gives off after being ignited.

With the first two torches now lit, players should cross over the broken bridge and then double back down the slope to their right. The final torch is to the left here and can be easily ignited using the Blades of Chaos. This will unlock the Abandoned Village Nornir Chest to the right, in which players can expect to find either an Idunn Apple or a Horn of Blood Mead; assuming, that is, that they haven't already opened up 30 Nornir Chests.
