There are 35 Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarok, four of which can be found in the realm of Midgard. Players can get to most of them when they first visit the realm during the game's ninth chapter, though will have plenty of chances to return later on if they miss them the first time around. This bodes well, as finding Nornir Chests is the only way to boost Kratos' maximum health and rage in God of War Ragnarok.

One of the Midgard Nornir Chests can be found in the Raider Hideout, which is to the northeast of the realm nestled squarely between the Lake of Nine and the King's Grave area. To open it, players will need to use a combination of explosives, Sigil Arrows, and Kratos' Blades of Chaos, making it one of the more challenging Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarok.

How to Unlock the Raider Hideout Nornir Chest

Shortly after entering the Raider Hideout, players will find themselves in a wide open area with climbable ledges to the left and right. If they climb the one on the left side of the chamber, they'll find the Nornir Chest nestled between a weapon stand and some wooden boxes. To open it, they'll need to light three torches, though the method for doing so is a little different than usual.

The first torch can be found immediately to the left of the chest, though players won't be able to reach it right away. They'll first need to have their companion fire a few Sigil Arrows at the thick red vines and then use the Blades of Chaos to burn them away. Once the vines are gone, they can either use more Sigil Arrows to light the torch or return to the area below and grab some explosives, which will also be able to ignite the torch if thrown directly at it.

With the first torch ignited, players should drop back down into the center of the room and grab some more explosives from the flaming pot to the left. They'll then need to look for the breakable wall in the center of the room between the two raised sections and hurl the explosives at it in order to destroy it. They'll then be free to light the second torch, either by using Sigil Arrows and the Blades of Chaos or another explosive.

To find the final torch, players should return to the path that led them to the current area and look through the stone arch to their right. Off in the distance, they'll see a torch with a rune that looks like a C on it. However, it can't be ignited with Sigil Arrows and Kratos' Blades of Chaos due to the distance, nor is it close enough to hit it directly with explosives. To get around this, players will therefore have to use a combination of Sigil Arrows and explosives to get it lit.

Now that all three torches are lit, players can return to the Nornir Chest and open it up. Depending on how many Nornir Chests they've opened up to this point, they'll either receive an Idunn Apple or a Horn of Blood Mead, which can be used to increase Kratos' maximum health and maximum rage respectively. That is unless players have already found 30 of the 35 Nornir Chests in God of Ragnarok, in which case, they'll either get some Hacksilver or a rare Enchantment.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
