A God of War Ragnarok player suffered a crushing defeat against Valkyrie Queen Gna, mere seconds away from victory. Since God of War Ragnarok's release last month, several skilled players have showcased their prowess by besting the new Valkyrie Queen at incredible speed, taking no damage, and being severely under-leveled, but not all are so fortunate.

Although God of War Ragnarok may not generally be considered as difficult as Elden Ring, there are certainly ways to test that theory. 2018's Give Me God of War difficulty mode turned even the weakest Draugr into axe-sponges for Kratos, who would be downed by a single hit before he was able to acquire a few upgrades. While even the story proved challenging under such circumstances, it made the Valkyries winged nightmares. God of War Ragnarok replaces these fights with Berserkers, malevolent spirits that torment the area surrounding their gravestones. However, the true test of Ragnarok is arguably Gna, the Valkyrie promoted by Odin after Sigrun fell to Kratos. On Give Me God of War, which is admittedly less punishing in the sequel, Gna can force players to restart with only a few hits.

A video posted to Reddit by Gsossi captured twenty seconds of pure agony, who understandably captioned the post "this crushed my soul." It begins moments before heartbreak, with Gna a single hit away from accepting defeat. The player, their health and rage both at maximum capacity, is seemingly destined for triumph, deftly dodging Gna's wings.

However, it was not meant to be. As the Valkyrie Queen spins rapidly, the player reaches for that killing blow, activating the Light Runic Attack currently equipped on their Blades of Chaos. Performing Hades Retribution, the player intends to embed a fiery bomb within Gna, a blast that would almost certainly be the end of their confrontation.

Instead, the Valkyrie Queen immediately transitions into another attack, perhaps the only one that could have turned the tables, and avoids the approaching stab. Both Sigrun and Gna can execute a devastating unblockable jump that catches out all but the most alert of players, landing on top of Kratos indescribably fast. The move requires the player to furiously mash out of it, consistently damaged by the Valkyrie Queen's smashing their heels against Kratos' neck. Unfortunately, three stomps are all it takes for Gna to alter destiny for the player and, absent a Resurrection Stone, force them to try once again.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
