The never-ending puzzle hints can get on the nerves of even the most devoted God of War Ragnarok fan, including the talented actor who provided most of them as Atreus. Sony Santa Monica’s blockbuster sequel has earned near-universal acclaim since it launched on PlayStation consoles last November, and has earned numerous accolades at recent events like December’s 2022 Game Awards and the British Academy Film Awards that were held just last week. However, while God of War Ragnarok’s story, graphics, combat, and acting have all been met with praise, there are some areas that players have been less than thrilled about. One of the biggest pet peeves fans have with the game is the seemingly nonstop hints given during puzzle segments, which often start before the player has any time to figure the solution out for themselves. Most of these puzzles are quite simple to solve anyway, making the sudden need for Freya or Atreus to spell out what Kratos needs to do to advance all the more irritating for some players.RELATED: God of War Ragnarok Composer Reveals Sad Lyrics To The Opening ThemeIt seems that Atreus himself is annoyed with how often he gives away the answer to a seemingly obvious puzzle in God of War Ragnarok. IGN recently spoke with Sunny Suljic, who portrayed Atreus in both Ragnarok and the 2018 God of War reboot before it, outside the BAFTA Game Awards event last week. When asked how it feels to hear himself giving hints while playing, Suljic complained that it isn’t fun for him at all. “I get so sick of hearing my voice sometimes,” he playfully noted. “It’s so frustrating, but it is what it is.”

Suljic also spoke about how he wishes to see Atreus continue the journey he began in the past two God of War games and grow into adulthood, as well as his relationship with his Ragnarok co-star Christopher Judge. While Suljic himself didn’t win any BAFTA Game Awards for his role as Atreus, Judge took home the honor of Performer in a Leading Role for his performance as Kratos and Laya DeLeon Hayes won the award for Performer in a Supporting Role thanks to her portrayal of the young Giant Angrboda.

While Sunny Suljic is certainly proud of his work in bringing Atreus to life in God of War Ragnarok, even he can get annoyed with how often the son of Kratos gives away obvious puzzle answers. While these hints can be helpful to players who struggle with such gameplay segments, others find themselves wishing that Sony Santa Monica included an option to shut them off, including the very actor who can be heard giving a great many of them.

God of War Ragnarok is available now on PS4 and PS5.
