God of War rebooted the series in 2018, including bringing an entirely new combat system that played drastically different from the original trilogy. While fan reception to the new combat was mixed, one God of War player has shown some new tech they developed that drastically changes it by allowing Kratos to dual wield.

2018's God of War started Kratos off with an entirely new weapon, the Leviathan Axe. Throughout the game, Kratos also could use his fists while getting access to a shield and his iconic Blades of Chaos, which all played very differently. God of War also brought the new Talisman system to better allow players to customize their fighting style.

However, Reddit user haseebbasit's dual-wielding tech opens up even more possibilities. The gif posted to the game's subreddit is very brief, but it does show Kratos wielding the various weapons of his arsenal in some interesting new ways. This includes using Blades of Chaos attacks with his fists while also equipping the shield with his Blades in an entirely new way. The gif does not show Kratos wielding God of War's now-iconic Leviathan Axe, but it is not hard to imagine just how powerful it would be paired with a Blade in the offhand or some other combination.

The post itself does not give any specifics on how haseebbasit managed to do this, but they did leave a comment on the post revealing that it is actually achieved via a glitch that any player can do. They say that to get into the mode players have to do a single attack while unarmed, instantly switch to the Blades of Chaos, quick turn around using the D-pad, and then call back a thrown Leviathan Axe as Kratos is turning around. They say that this will get Kratos stuck into the dual-wielding mode, unlocking new combos that should help make short work of some of God of War's tougher bosses and Valkyries.

It is cool that hasseebbasit's method can be recreated by any God of War player, and it looks like a fun experiment for fans to try while playing the game. Of course, nothing is known about what weapons Kratos will wield in God of War's sequel, but it would be interesting to see it feature a more official dual wield system similar to what haseebbasit has found. With the sequel being delayed until next year, however, God of War fans likely have a while yet to wait to see what the sequel holds.

God of War is available now on PlayStation 4.
