  • A fan visiting a theme park seemingly stumbles upon a stone tablet reminiscent of those found within God of War.
  • However, the runes on the tablet seem to be made up of different styles to be more as decorative gibberish.
  • A potential PC port of God of War: Ragnarok could be on the horizon, following Sony's trend of releasing exclusives on the platform.

A God of War player encounters a stone lore tablet out in the real world, with a design seemingly pulled straight out from the game. Stone tablets in the game help flesh out the backstory of the God of War world, especially as protagonist Kratos navigates a realm that's relatively unfamiliar to him.

The current God of War: Ragnarok story is fresh off developments that unfolded in Valhalla, the free DLC that publisher Sony released back in December 2023. In a nutshell, Kratos goes through trials in the Norse hall of glory that are more introspective in nature, facing memories and ghosts from his past in Greece. The surprise post-launch content caught a lot of franchise fans by surprise, many of whom were not expecting a new chapter in the story for quite some time.

Fortnite Survey Hints at Possible New God of War Skin Coming to the Game

A new Fortnite survey suggests that a new God of War bundle may be coming to the game soon, possibly during the game's next season.

Over on the God of War subReddit, a user named Typical_Swine_777 shared a photo they took of a stone with what seemed to be Norse runes carved into it, which they found in the Norway area of EPCOT. They asked for help with deciphering the runes written, curious about what the message possibly was. However, any possibilities of hidden profound writings were immediately dashed when a couple of knowledgeable Redditors noticed that the runes written were from a mix of different styles, proving that they were likely decorative gibberish to lend the theme park some character. With so many people becoming enthusiasts due to the abundance of Norse-inspired IPs like God of War and Valheim, world-building efforts like these may have to be more hardworking to not seem so hollow.

What To Expect From the God of War Franchise Next

  • God of War: Ragnarok PC port
  • Possible half-sequel to God of War: Ragnarok
  • Original God of War trilogy remaster or remake

As the dust has settled from God of War: Ragnarok, many fans are wondering what's next. God of War writer Orion Walker has teased more story content to come, but whether that means more DLC for Ragnarok or a new title altogether is still unclear. Other theories and speculation say, especially after Valhalla touched on Kratos's Greek roots, that a remake or remaster of the original trilogy may be the next move. Of course, Sony and Santa Monica Studio have not confirmed nor announced anything as of now.

Right now, the thing that's most sure from the developer is the PC port of God of War: Ragnarok, as it's now become Sony's practice to release all its console exclusives on the platform. After originally taking three to four years to port PlayStation games, the company now claims that it's able to do it in around one or two years thanks to new technology. That means it's more than possible for Ragnarok to show up on PC by the end of this year, so those who have been waiting patiently can cross their fingers for that big announcement sometime soon.
