While the next God of War game could still be far off, Art Director Raf Grassetti has kept busy by working on some awesome character pieces. Instead of basing his art on God of War, though, Grassetti has turned his attention to superheroes and other pop culture icons.

Recently, Grassetti has been creating some memorable pieces for DC, with a unique Batman comic cover released at the end of March. Back in February, he gave the Joker the same love, with the Clown Prince of Crime captured in remarkable detail as he sat on a throne. Now, Grassetti has turned to the other side of superhero comics, with the Marvel universe being brought to life via a stunning new piece. Sharing the post to his Twitter account, fans of the artist’s work can see Grassetti's hero of choice in all their glory.

Rather than sharing more X-Men art or some pieces aimed at the beloved Avengers characters, Grassetti went a bit more obscure with his choice. In the art piece, none other than Black Knight is seen standing proudly in a full set of armor. A skilled swordsman, stronger leader, and expert tactician, the comic book version of the character has left his mark on the Marvel universe. While many artists have put their spin on the Black Knight over the years, seeing him in Grassetti’s signature style is a lot of fun.

Taking a realistic approach to the hero’s design, Grassetti showcases a set of armor that is more regal than some of the hero’s past outfits. In place of a tunic, a gold chest plate with a circular design is seen. The character's sword rests on his side, while his iconic symbol is depicted on the armor's belt. Some neat eagle decorations adorn the area below his shoulders, while some sleek gauntlets improve the look. Another neat touch sees the God of War artist putting some fur behind Black Knight’s neck, a detail that makes him look even more intimidating.

Unsurprisingly, Raf Grassetti nails the character’s flashy helmet, with the cold accents around the chin and eyes looking as striking as they do in the comics. Overall, the design looks more modern and realistic than the older looks, and the realistic style goes well with the character. Fans can likely expect something similar to be seen in the MCU’s adaptation of The Eternals, as Black Knight is confirmed to feature. Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington will play the part, and it seems like his facial features are used for the artwork.

With The Eternals receiving a teaser trailer earlier today, this art was shared at a perfect time. If Black Knight’s armor looks this cool in the film, fans are in for a treat.

God of War: Ragnarok is scheduled to release in 2021 for PS5.
