Monsters are always present in dark fantasy anime, and the Goblin Slayer is no exception. However, the main monster of this show appears in the title, goblins. They are known for kidnapping and assaulting women, and this ferocious act gave birth to the adventurer fans know as the Goblin Slayer.
Goblins are not the only monsters in this world; there are different types of goblins, and each differs in strength, size, and special abilities. Other monsters like dragons, demons, sewer rats, and ogres exist, but there are some particular monsters that have shown great strength and stamina against the goblin slayer and his party of adventurers.
9 Goblins
Goblins are ferocious, and their actions support that. They are violent and are known for their brutality against women. They move in numbers because it makes them stronger, thus giving them an edge over their opponents, especially the inexperienced ones.
Goblins are very energetic and quick on their feet. Unless they are killed or scared off, they do not easily let go of their targets and would not do so until they had achieved their goal. In addition, they hold a grudge against their attackers, so sparing them is against the Goblin Slayer’s rule.
8 Hobgoblins
A hobgoblin made an appearance in the first episode. At first glance, his height and muscular build set him ahead of normal goblins and even humans. This monster was able to stop the unnamed female adventurer’s kick directed at him. She was no match for his great strength, and he quickly flung her across the cave.
This monster relies more on his strength than a weapon, as they are without one in the cave. Unlike normal goblins, the hobgoblin can attack and fight alone because he has the physical strength and stamina.
7 Shamans
What differentiates shamans from normal goblins is their ability to cast magical spells, and this trait makes them worthy of leading a nest. Also, they have the basic knowledge of setting simple traps to distract their enemies.
Shamans are never on the front lines of a battle. Instead, they set traps and send their underlings ahead. Their traps never go unnoticed, as seen in the first episode of the Goblin Slayer anime, when the priestess and party of adventurers fell for the shaman’s traps within the cave, making them unaware of the horde of goblins behind them.
6 Goblin Champions
The real threat starts with the goblin champions, as goblins as a race only get stronger from here, posing an enormous threat to adventurers. Goblin champions have great strength and impressive control over a horde of goblins. In addition to this, goblin champions are very clever.
In the sewers of Water Town, the goblin slayer and his party were lured into a room filled with poison gas. This trap was set by a goblin champion, and although it was a smart move that would have effortlessly worked on an experienced adventurer, the Goblin Slayer was quick enough to react and counter the effect.
5 Giant Eyes
In the sewers at Water Town, the Goblin Slayer and his party came across this strange creature, which he described as a giant eye. This giant eye shoots out hot lava from its eyes, annihilating its victims whenever it notices any movement.
The goblin slayer found it a bit difficult to defeat this creature, but with the help of the spells from his party members and some fine flour, he was able to use the creature’s hot lava against it, causing it to implode.
4 Ogres
The ogre was quite a difficult opponent for the Goblin Slayer and his party. With his incredible strength, magical abilities, and, more importantly, his regenerative skills, the Goblin Slayer and his party were no match for the ogre. Their spells, swords, and arrows could not penetrate his thick layer of muscles.
On the verge of defeat, the Goblin Slayer activated the Gate Scroll, which caused the deadly pressure of seawater to destroy and cut the ogre’s body into pieces. This fight would have quickly gone south without this move from the Goblin Slayer.
3 Goblin Paladins
The Goblin Paladin was a massive threat to the goblin slayer and his party on their quest to find the missing adventurers in the movie Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown. What makes the goblin paladin strong is his learned ability to study the combat skills of its opponents and use them against them.
In addition, goblin paladins are skilled swordsmen, and for example, one's fight with the Goblin Slayer was a close win for him, but with new tricks up his sleeves, the Goblin Slayer could claim victory.
2 Goblin Lords
The goblin lord stands out as one of the strongest because of his leadership skills, intellect, and physical prowess, as seen in the final episode of Goblin Slayer. Before launching an attack on the farm, the goblin lord made observations and put strategies in place.
Throughout the attack, the goblin lord effectively sent orders and mobilized his underlings to do his bidding. However, they were no match for the Goblin Slayer and the adventurers. As the goblin lord was losing control over the battle, he wisely chose to retreat while already making plans for his next attack. Sadly, these plans never left his mind as the Goblin Slayer and the Priestess defeated him.
1 Demon Lord
This name puts fear in the minds of the adventurers, except the Goblin Slayer, because he has no interest in creatures that are not goblins. The Demon Lord has control and authority over other creatures like demons, ogres, and goblins. In terms of power, the Demon Lord can easily be classified as the strongest.
When the Goblin Slayer and his party encountered an ogre in episode four of the Goblin Slayer series, the ogre revealed that it was the Demon Lord’s general who gave him the army of goblins that reside in the ruins with him, showing the level of authority the demon lord has. Although fans do not see him in battle, the highest-ranking adventurer, Hero, defeats him in the final episode.
