A new update has been released for Goat Simulator 3 that adds a bevy of Easter-themed content to the goofy, open-world animal sandbox. Goat Simulator 3 is part of perhaps the most popular non-serious simulator franchise that's known for its over-the-top wackiness and mayhem.Goat Simulator 3 quietly launched last November as, comically, only the second entry in the series, letting players goof around as goats and other animals in the largest sandbox the franchise has ever seen. With this being the franchise's first steps into a larger open-world format, Goat Simulator 3 has received praise from players for its wild co-op capabilities. As the island of San Angora is so massive, the door has been left open for bigger post-launch possibilities, and that's exactly where this Easter update comes into play.RELATED: Goat Simulator 3 Ad Includes Leaked GTA 6 Gameplay, Gets DMCA'd By Take-TwoGoat Simulator released a one-minute trailer on Twitter showcasing the new free Easter update and some of the wacky skins and items players can expect to enjoy in the game right now. Among the nineteen new pieces of gear is a rubber chicken suit, complete with the obnoxious squeaking noise, and a turtle suit which the trailer uses to make heavy reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Additionally, a piece of gear named "Flappy Goat", which was also featured in the first game, pays homage to the iconic early-2010s meme Nyan Cat as well as the mobile game that took the world by storm in 2013 Flappy Bird.

As a much bigger part of this new Easter update, an egg hunt named Operation Crackdown will have players tracking down Easter eggs in order to crack open a massive egg that has appeared on an island near the city. Along with players being able to turn themselves into eggs, they'll also be able to turn NPCs and objects in to eggs, Yoshi-style. The trailer also hints at what seems like the reward for completing Operation Crackdown: a new ostrich added to the roster of playable animals.

With all this added to the game today, players will no doubt be busy with goat-related high jinks and shenanigans through the Easter and Spring season. The original Goat Simulator world was smaller, thus post-launch content was accomplished with proper DLC featuring new, separate maps. With the island of San Angora being much larger in Goat Simulator 3, fans of the game should expect more seasonal events such as this one in the future.

Goat Simulator 3 is out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
