Ghostwire: Tokyo, like much of its open-world predecessors, has all sorts of side quests to do and collectibles to find alongside the main story. One of these side quests will have players hunting down the location of 25 missing Tanuki in Ghostwire: Tokyo, all of whom have hidden themselves throughout the streets of Shibuya.

The Tanuki in Ghostwire: Tokyo definitely do a good job of keeping hidden, with the only indication of their presence being a tail poking out from whatever object it is that they are disguised as. The Tanuki that is hidden in the Yashin Shrine, however, is not too terrible to find, and fortunately, there is only one in this shrine location.

There are two main ways of discovering the Tanuki; one, of course, is by simply stumbling upon them in the world. If the player uses KK's Spectral Vision ability, Tanuki will be highlighted as inanimate objects but with a tail. The other way of locating these Tanuki is by finding dogs and cats who can provide the player with hints as to the whereabouts of their furry comrades by reading their thoughts.

The player should keep in mind that these little rascals will hide just about anywhere, and that does also include the many rooftops that make up the Tokyo skyline. Players will often need to lasso the Tengu in order to get themselves onto the rooftops. Ghostwire: Tokyo players can also glide for easier travel across these.

Players can also keep in mind that if they are on the rooftop, they tend to hide nearby colorful billboards or other such notables markers to help the player a bit more, as they are fairly well hidden.

Yashin Shrine Tanuki Location

After the player has revealed Yashin Shrine and cleared it of any enemies, the player should then orient themselves towards the southeast, as the Tanuki location will be fairly direct this way from the Shrine marker.

This location is a construction site, so it could be a tad disorienting in navigating its levels. If the player spawns directly at the shrine, from this starting location they will notice a lift to the left of them. The player should ride this lift, which will bring them back to ground level. The player can head to the left from here out the entrance and then should hook a right coming out of it.

Here, the player should notice a large row of excavators with a certain traffic sign in the middle that doesn't quite look as if it fits. Interacting with the sign will of course reveal the hidden Tanuki, which this one adorably has a construction hat.

The Tanuki will thank the player for letting it know the boss' information, and then be on its way, but not of course without providing the player a little something for their time. The player can expect 100 XP and an emote called "Run Like the Wind."

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now for PS5 and PC.
