Fairly early on in Ghostwire: Tokyo, the player will encounter an adorable Tanuki boss who is desperately searching for all his missing comrades. Of course, the player can take up this quest and go searching, but they are not always so plain to see.

In Ghostwire: Tokyo, when it comes to Tanuki hunting, generally, the player is going to want to keep an eye out for normal everyday items throughout the world, be that a bike, trashcan, or other such things, as they could be secretly a Tanuki in disguise. The player can note that it is in fact a Tanuki, as the item in question will have a tail protruding from its backside. As the player progresses through the various shrines placed around Tokyo, they may start to find it increasingly challenging to find the little rascals as they start to become much more clever with each additional shrine.

Utagawa Shopping District Tanuki Locations

Tanuki 1

The Utagawa Shopping District is jampacked, and there are three Tanuki located in this one. The first one is fairly easy to find. The player will want to go straight east from the shrine marker, following the road. If the player keeps an eye on the rooftops, they will find that one of the buildings on the player's left-hand side will have a door on the corner of the block.

If the player gets to the roof of this building, they should note that it has a large billboard, and if they look even closer, they may discover that this billboard does indeed have a tail. If the player interacts with it, it should reveal the Tanuki, who will reward the player with 100 XP and the "Graceful Landing" emote.

Tanuki 2

The second Tanuki is a tad trickier. The player is going to want to return to the Sengoku Center Building where they completed the Pillar of Light quest. In the alleyway of this building, the player should find a row of a ton of vending machines.

As mentioned previously, the player can note a Tanuki as they have a tail coming from them, although in this case, the tail will be clipping through the wall that the vending machine is against, so it is only visible in spirit vision. Once the player interacts with the machine, it should reveal the second Tanuki who will again provide the player with 100 XP and this time the "Prayer" emote.

Tanuki 3

The third Tanuki is a curious one. The player will want to go straight north from the shrine marker until they hit the large overpass. The player will want to get to the underside of it, and they should notice a walkway adjacent to the water.

If the player follows this path all the way to the end going east, they should encounter a tiny door that looks mighty out of place. Again, upon further view, it is clear that this too has a tail; thus the third Tanuki is revealed. This one again gives Ghostwire: Tokyo players 100 XP and then provides the "Love and Peace" emote.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now for PS5 and PC.
