Ghostwire: Tokyo boasts a pretty graphically impressive look at Tokyo, and players can find all sorts of things hidden in its nooks and crannies. One of these collectible hunts will come to the player in the form of a Tanuki side quest near the beginning of the game.

Ghostwire: Tokyo players eventually will find the side quest "Tanuki Hunt," which is given to them by a bossy Tanuki looking for his clan who have all separated and hidden themselves throughout Tokyo. Accepting this quest will task the player with finding 25 Tanuki. These Tanuki are very clever and will hide by disguising as regular inanimate objects. Fortunately for the player, their trickery only gets them so far, as they are given away by their tail which protrudes out the backside of whatever object it is that they are mimicking.

Players can find Tanuki in a few ways, but the most common will be simply stumbling upon them while looking through Spectral Vision, or by reading the minds of the wandering dogs and cats, who will provide clues as to the whereabouts of their furry friends. Occasionally at shrines, players can find Offering Boxes which, depending on how much they donate, can provide the exact location of a given requested collectible, such as a Tanuki.

Namihara Shrine Tanuki Location

Not all shrines are equal when it comes to Tanuki as some may have none or even three, but fortunately, the Namihara Shrine only has one, and it is in a very clear location nearby. The player will need to clear out the shrine, of course, and then they should notice an Offering Box located right beside them to their left. If the player offers the max amount and asks for Tanuki locations, the Offering Box will reveal the location of the Tanuki on the map, which should be marked as a paw print.

If the player wants to save money, however, they can simply clamber up to the shrine's roof and jump over to the rooftop of the building where the Offering Box is against. They should note a satellite dish on top of the rooftop door and a totally inconspicuous glowing sign with a tail next to it.

What else could it be but the hidden Tanuki. If the player interacts with the object, the Tanuki will reveal itself and give a little dialogue about its motives. Of course, they will then understand that they must regroup with the boss, and they will thank the player for finding them. Like all the other Tanuki, this one will provide Ghostwire: Tokyo players with 100 XP for finding it, and an emote, which in this case is called "Sheepish."

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now for PS5 and PC.
