Like most other modern sandbox games, Ghostwire: Tokyo features a leveling-up system that allows players to unlock new skills and abilities as they progress through the game. Each time they increase their Synergy Level, they'll earn additional Skill Points, which can then be used to make Akito and KK stronger in a number of different ways. Before they can actually level up though, players will first need to earn enough XP.

There are multiple ways for players to earn XP in Ghostwire: Tokyo, though some methods are far quicker than others. A typical main story playthrough will see players level up at a fairly healthy pace, but anyone looking to speed up the process a little has a number of options available to them. For those looking to level up fast in Ghostwire: Tokyo, these are the most efficient methods.

Absorb & Transfer Spirits

Perhaps the best way to level up quickly in Ghostwire: Tokyo is to absorb spirits, which can typically be found floating around on the streets of Shibuya. To absorb them, players simply need to approach them and then hold the L2 button, though this will only work if they have an empty Katashiro in their possession. Players can buy more Katashiro from convenience stores if they keep running out or find them at shrine altars once the shrine's tori gates have been purified.

When it comes to finding spirits, players should utilize KK's Spectral Vision ability as often as possible, which can be activated by pressing the Square button. This will make spirits much easier to spot from distance, allowing players to quickly survey an area from afar (further still, if they upgrade the skill). There are also large red and black corrupted trees scattered throughout the streets of Tokyo, and destroying these by finding their cores using Spectral Vision and then hitting them with the bow or Ethereal Arts is another great way to find spirits.

After collecting spirits, players will need to transfer them from one of the many payphones found throughout the city. The game explains how to do this early on in Chapter 2 and players should aim to do so as often as possible to decrease the chances of them filling up all of their Katashiro (which become reusable once spirits have been transferred). It's also a good idea to buy a bunch of extra Katashiro early on just in case.

Pull Out Enemy Cores & Perform Stealth Kills

Killing Visitors is another great way to earn XP quickly in Ghostwire: Tokyo, though players should aim to maximize their returns by performing special kills whenever possible. Both Quick Purging enemies (stun or sneak up on a Visitor and then hold L2) or pulling out their cores (expose their cores using Ethereal Arts and then hold L2 to yank them out) provide additional XP and Ether, so players should aim to use these techniques as often as possible. As they grow stronger, players will even be able to pull out multiple cores at once.

Complete Side Missions

Side missions become available about halfway through Chapter 2 of Ghostwire: Tokyo. Though they tend to provide players with Meika and Spirits rather than XP, these spirits can actually be traded in for XP at phoneboxes around the city. What's more, some of the locations that players visit while completing side missions are loaded with floating spirits, which can be absorbed into Katashiro and transferred out of the city for even more XP and Meika. As a result, completing side missions is actually a great way to level up fast in Ghostwire: Tokyo, despite most of them failing to provide players with XP directly.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now on PC and PS5.
