Ghostwire: Tokyo has players roaming the streets of Tokyo in search of elusive Tanuki. These furry little rascals have all separated from the main Tanuki boss, who has tasked the player with finding them all so that they may all reunite.

Ghostwire: Tokyo players in search of Tanuki will note that they have the ability to transform themselves into everyday objects so that they may avoid detection from the hostile spirits now roaming. Players, however, will be able to note these objects as hidden Tanuki, as they will have a tail poking and swinging from the back.

Players are able to detect these creatures in two main ways. The first is by simply stumbling upon them, as the player is able to find them through the spirit vision. They will be highlighted much like any other object in the spirit vision; however, their tail will be noticeable as well.

The second way to make it easier to find is to locate cats and dogs throughout the streets who will provide you with some clues as to their whereabouts when the player reads their thoughts.

Akisawa Shrine Tanuki Locations

Tanuki 1

At the Akisawa Shrine, there are two Tanuki locations. One of them is fairly simple to find while the other will require a bit of parkour and platforming. For the first one, the player will need to spawn at the shrine. If the player is looking at the map, they will find that the Tanuki is fairly close to the shrine marker going northwest.

West of the shrine marker are two streets traveling parallel horizontally. If the player walks down the top street, they should eventually notice in an alley to their right a torii gate that doesn't look quite right. Upon further inspection, the player should be greeted with a Tanuki, who will reward Ghostwire: Tokyo players with 100 XP and the "Pet Cat" emote.

Tanuki 2

The second Tanuki is a bit more of a hassle to get to. This one is going to be located on the roof of the hospital in which the player first navigated. Generally, the best way to get access to this area is going to be from another rooftop and then gliding over to it.

If the player spawns again at the shrine, they should note behind them a Tengu that is flying above. The player should whip up to them, and then from there they will want to make their way over to the hospital. They should eventually be confronted with a street that separates the two rooftops. The player should get to the highest building they can on this side, and then glide over to the other set of rooftops.

Once on that set of rooftops, the player should easily be able to get to the hospital roof, where they should find an orange traffic cone with a tail. This is the second Tanuki. Once Ghostwire: Tokyo players interacts with it, they will be rewarded with another 100 XP and the "Karate 2 Form" emote.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now for PS5 and PC.
