In recent years, Sony has made an effort to bring some of its biggest titles to PC including the likes of God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and The Last of Us Part 1. This trend has been great for both these games and PC players because it helps renew interest in these titles after they've already had a life on PlayStation, while giving a whole new audience access to them. However, the current library of PlayStation games on PC is missing the obvious candidate for a port in Ghost of Tsushima.

A large portion of Sony's successful first-party games have already made their way to PC, so it seems odd that Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima has yet to receive a port. The game has already proven to be successful on both PS4 and PS5 with an enhanced director's cut edition coming to the latter console. With how much praise this game has received over the years, including the award for Best Art Direction and a nomination for Game of the Year at the 2020 Game Awards, it could easily find new life on the PC.

A PC Release Could Take Ghost of Tsushima to the Next Level

Originally released on the PS4 in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima follows the story of Jin Sakai, a former samurai who adopts the persona of the Ghost as he fights his way through the invading Mongolian army on the island of Tsushima. The game captured players with its compelling characters and beautiful art direction inspired by classic samurai films. It's even been successful enough that a Ghost of Tsushima movie is in the works, bringing its samurai film inspiration full circle.

While the world of Tsushima is beautiful on the PS4 and enhanced in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut on PS5, bringing the game to PC could paint the game in a whole new graphical light. With what PC players have been able to achieve in terms of visuals for other Sony titles, Ghost of Tsushima's already stunning environments make it the logical next choice to get a glow-up on PC. It would also make a fantastic title to take advantage of the Steam Deck or ROG Ally's portable gaming capabilities.

One of the biggest advantages a PC version of Ghost of Tsushima would have over its console counterpart is access to the modding community. Mods in PC games have become synonymous with silly fan-created content such as making Joel in The Last of Us Part 1 look like Pedro Pascal or making Resident Evil 4's Ashley a mouse. While these can add goofy entertainment to some games, mods can also be used to help other games reach their full potential by completely reworking elements like lighting and textures or adding in new mechanics or even full game modes, and Ghost of Tsushima's cinematic flair makes it the perfect playground for mods of all kinds.

With the game originally releasing in 2020 and the director's cut releasing a year later in 2021, Ghost of Tsushima is in the ideal position for a PC release. Sitting nicely in a 2-3 year gap since its initial release means Ghost of Tsushima's console sales have likely peaked, but if Sony's other former PlayStation-exclusive releases on PC are any indication, the game could see a solid new wave of sales from a release on a new platform. While there is no confirmation that Sony is planning a PC release for Ghost of Tsushima, the case for it to be next in line to receive a port is more than compelling enough to make its eventual release likely.

Ghost of Tsushima is currently available on PS4 and PS5.
