When Ghost of Tsushima first released in 2020, it was heralded by critics and fans alike as a masterpiece. Though it had its detractors, this never stopped developer Sucker Punch from continuing to make the game even better. Since launch, players have gotten plenty of updates adding entirely new game modes for free, the foremost of which is the Legends mode. This lets players go online and battle against hordes of demons with their friends, and the best part is that it was completely free to players that own the game already. Now Sucker Punch has announced that even more content is coming to Legends for free, as well as a way for players that don't want the single player campaign to join the fun.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is releasing this month, but this content is not tied to that. All new Legends content will be available to all players whether they have the Director's Cut or not. Likewise, the new standalone version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends can be purchased without buying the Director's Cut of the full game.

For those players that never got around to buying Ghost of Tsushima, there will soon be an option to skip Jin's story altogether and jump straight into the multiplayer fun. While it's highly recommended that fans give Ghost of Tsushima's single-player story mode a try, this serves as a great and cheap way for players to see if they enjoy the gameplay. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends can be purchased for $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 on PS4 or PS5 and is almost exatly the same as the version that comes with the full game. The only difference is that certain cosmetics that are unlocked in the single player story will not be available. What's more, if players decide they want to get the full game later, they only have to pay the difference.

For those players that have Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a new game mode is coming called Rivals. Here, two teams of two will compete against each other to clear out waves of enemies. As players score kills, they can use the Magatama they earn to sabotage their rivals, and whichever team finishes first wins. This mode will come to the game on September 3rd. It may not be the Ghost of Tsushima PVP that some were hoping for, but it should still be quite fun.

Finally, alongside the release of the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, there will be some balance changes to Legends mode. This includes things like shortening the length of Survival mode, new Weekly Nightmare challenges, and more.
