Redditor Theoson just shared a painting they made which was inspired by Ghost of Tsushima. Titled "Invasion," it seems to be heavily influenced by the early scene of the Mongols invading Tsushima in force. Theoson's painting has been getting a lot of attention for how professional and realistic it looks.

Ghost of Tsushima kicks off with a harrowing battle against insurmountable odds. Jin is one of 80 Samurai that stand as Tsushima's last hope to stop or slow the Mongol invasion, and by the end of the battle he is the only one left. This painting captures the feeling of dread right before that fateful night's battle began.

The painting couldn't have come at a better time, as hype for the game is at an all time high following its very successful release. Players can't get enough of Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode, and the whole community is very positive towards each other.

Ghost of Tsushima Invasion Painting

The painting shows two mounted samurai looking out as innumerable Mongol warships emerge from the fog. Many in the comments claimed to think this was an actual scene from the game at first glance, which acts as a testament to Theoson's skill as a painter. Of course, closer inspection makes it clear that this is in fact a painting, but the level of detail can't be overstated. Fans of Ghost of Tsushima will recognize it instantly as the moment right before the Mongols landed and butchered the last of the samurai before conquering the entirety of Tsushima in days.

Theoson reveals in the comments that the painting was commissioned for a mini-documentary, which detailed what the history of the Mongol invasion of Japan looked like. This painting can be seen in a clip towards the beginning of that documentary, and it fits the theme very well. When asked about how they were able to make something so professional-looking, Theoson cites three years of relentless practice and a mixture of traditional analog painting techniques with modern art software and technology.

Perhaps most exciting, Theoson said they will be uploading more similar art in the future, so fans of this piece have something to look out for. The painting is certainly impressive, and it is great to see video games drawing out so much creativity from players. Ghost of Tsushima has barely just arrived to fans and already it has spawned such a great piece of art.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now exclusively for PS4.
