After a brief delay, the long-awaited Terminator Live Event for Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is finally hitting servers and will run from Friday, January 29 through February 6.

Title Update 1.1.0 introduces the first ever live event for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, during which a cybernetic menace from the future will appear on the island of Auroa, determined to destroy all Skell Technology. The Terminator Live Event is composed of two narrative missions and, from what’s been revealed in the trailers, it seems that each will launch at different times during the event, with the first beginning on January 29 and the second on February 1.

Participants in the Terminator Live Event will also have the opportunity to unlock new weapons, vehicles, attachments, and unique customization items. These exclusive rewards can only be earned while the event is active, although players who miss the event will still be able to participate in the dedicated story missions and obtain the associated mission rewards.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint takes place on Auroa, an island where an ambitious corporation founded by tech genius Jace Skell has created a self-sustaining utopia, allowing it to develop its Skell Technology away from watchful eyes. This advanced tech, intended to make the world a better and safer place, has inevitably fallen into the hands of corrupt regimes and, if left unchecked, its continued development will apparently have dire consequences in the future.

Enter the Terminator. During the live event, players must intercept the T-800 in its single-minded mission to destroy Skell Tech before it wipes out all human life on the island, which is primarily comprised of corporation employees and their families.

The Terminator Live Event for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint was originally intended to go live on December 18, 2019, but was delayed in order to give the development team time to polish content and work on additional bug fixes for the game, such as longstanding audio and gameplay issues.

Ubisoft plans to continually expand the available content for the game by periodically releasing new Ghost Recon: Breakpoint raids, classes, and missions. These updates are called episodes and three are planned for the first year of the game’s release, beginning right at launch in October 2019. A new live event is planned for each new episode, starting with the Terminator, but the content of future events has not yet been announced. Currently, the game’s second episode is planned to begin in February and run through May 2020.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
