After going silent for over three years once development wrapped on inFAMOUS: Second Son, Sucker Punch surprised the Paris Games Week crowd by officially unveiling Ghost of Tsushima. Details were a little scarce outside of an extremely impressive announcement trailer focusing on the exploits of a Samurai in Feudal Japan. While it's likely that Sony will potentially reveal more information later this weekend during PlayStation Experience, eagle-eyed Reddit users have already managed to discover some previously unknown information.

Spotted from the main PlayStation website, a recently updated synopsis for Ghost of Tsushima offers new details on the upcoming title, including the protagonist's name, Jin. The year is 1274 and the small Japanese island of Tsushima has fallen under the rule of Kublai Khan and his Mongol Empire. As one of the last remaining samurai on the island, Jin takes it upon himself to fight back against the intruders even though he faces overwhelming odds against a ruthless enemy.

The post also goes on to highlight a few of the diverse environments players will traverse in game. These landscapes could be briefly seen in the game's debut trailer and range from the swaying bamboo forests of the countryside, to the urban centers of ornate castles. Outnumbered and outgunned, players will need to adopt more stealthy ghost tactics instead of the honorable code of combat that a Samurai traditionally follows.

In addition to a Ghost of Tsushima PlayStation Experience panel, Sony is expected to reveal a lot more game-related content during its opening press conference. The company has already announced the inclusion of studios like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, and Capcom, but there are also rumors circulating that unannounced games like Soul Calibur 6 and Devil May Cry 5 will finally be revealed. The show itself kicks off on December 9, so fans won't have to wait too much longer for the truth.

Ghost of Tsushima is expected to launch on PlayStation 4, but has yet to receive an official release date.
