The Assassin class isn't too great with upfront encounters like the Samurai Class, but are perfect for running up and dealing massive damage to bigger enemies. Here are tips for the best loadout and techniques to make the most out of the Assassin Class in Ghost of Tsushima.

1. Weapon

The best fit for the assassin is finding a katana with the water stance. Suppose players find a weapon with multiple stances that is fine too, as long as they can use the water stance. The triangle button flurry attack is crucial for staggering oni enemies out of a guard and dealing massive damage.

2. Ranged

The blowgun is vital for the assassin because it can apply an additional source of stagger; primarily hallucination darts because they can also turn tougher enemies into an ally in combat.

3. Charm

Choose any basic stealth charm that decreases cooldowns for assassination kills. This will be good for quickly chaining together multiple assassinations with a large group of enemies.

4. Ghost Weapons

This category is flexible for what the player thinks will help them the most in combat. Ideally, the first Ghost weapon would be anything on the legendary items list, like the kunai, since it's possible to find some that also reset cooldowns or hits multiple enemies. However, the player needs to choose the smoke bomb for the second weapon. Assassins need to stay under the invisibility cloak and vanish when overwhelmed by enemies.

5. Techniques

  • Toxic Vanish: Makes the player vanish in a cloud of poisonous smoke and deals stagger damage to enemies.
  • Super Strike: Allows players to perform a stronger stealth attack, dealing twice the amount of damage than a normal assassination.
  • Opportunist: Player deals 50% additional bonus damage to staggered enemies.
  • Chain Vanish: Successfully killing enemies in a single hit will allow the player to vanish a second time and reset all cooldowns.

Combining all of these skills allows the player to constantly vanish in front of enemies, stagger them, deal massively stacked damaged to them, and repeat the process. This type of build is only truly effective for higher-level characters, so lower level players may want to get stronger gear to cripple stronger enemies.

Hopefully, this class guide for Ghost of Tsushima helps players understand what they need to do to become the perfect assassin for their team.
