'Heart of the Jito' is one of the last main quests in Act 3 of Ghost of Tsushima before the final showdown against Khotun Khan. To appeal for aid from his uncle, Lord Shimura, Jin needs to sneak into the castle and leave a message for him without being seen or heard by anyone.

'Heart of the Jito' is perhaps the hardest quest in the game because, unlike a lot of the other missions, it demands patience more than skill. Here is the fastest route players can take to reach the end goal.

With the right loadout, the Charm of Versatile Skills is one of the strongest Charms a player could ask for in Ghost of Tsushima.

How to Start Heart of the Jito in Ghost of Tsushima

Heart of the Jito starts immediately after Jin and Yuna survey the final Mongol Stronghold during the 'Gathering of the Storm' main mission. Afterward, players can talk to Yuna in Jogaku Temple to trigger a cutscene where Jin writes a letter to Lord Shimura.

Yuna will lead you to a stable where you can choose your second horse. Keep in mind that, similar to when you chose your horse at the start of Ghost of Tsushima, this decision is final and cannot be reversed.

The new quest marker will lead the player to Castle Shimura at the border of Toyotama and Kamiagata. The Kubara Crossing, located northeast of the castle, is the closest fast-travel point to the destination.

How to Sneak into Lord Shimura's Quarters in Ghost of Tsushima

Jump into the water and head toward the handholds that lead up to Castle Shimura. The path upward starts right next to the NPC holding the lit torch. Following the linear path will lead you to a gap in the castle walls.

Killing any guards during Heart of the Jito will immediately fail the mission.

Squeeze through the gap, and you'll see two patrolling guards carrying torches heading right. Turn left, avoiding the guards, and follow the path to the wooden bridge. Keep following the dirt path and turn left when it forks. There will be a large red-leaved tree overlooking the water and a small island where you'll notice a few more guards.

Jump into the water and go right, avoiding the guards' lines of sight. The goal is to reach the center of the broken bridge, where the large stone juts out just before the river becomes a waterfall.

Sneaking through the river instead of the castle allows players to bypass the entire starting area of Castle Shimura.

sneaking into a broken window in ghost of tsushima

Climb the stone and turn left to find a fallen tree trunk. Use the trunk and jump the gap using the Iron Hook. Following the linear climbing section will lead you to a broken window Jin can jump through. Wait a beat for the guard standing just inside to leave before jumping through. Use the ladder in the second room of the house to climb to the second floor and crawl through the gap on the opposite end to reach the roof of the second floor.

The Ronin Attire and Ghost Armor are both great for sneaking as they make it harder for enemies to detect you.

sneaking onto the roof in ghost of tsushima

Use the roof as a walkway to circle around the house and drop down into the pampas grass. The goal now is to get to the top floor of the large building on your immediate left. This is where Shimura is staying and where Jin needs to deliver his message.

using wind chime in ghost of tsushima

Jump down and use the boxes as cover to sneak past the guards. Use a Wind Chime to distract a guard looking your way and crouch past the door just ahead to the next section.

Using a Firecracker instead of a Wind chime will attract multiple guards to the same spot, making stealth even easier.

There is scaffolding to your left surrounded by pampas grass. Use the grass as cover to climb it and enter the building using the window. As soon as Jin enters, Lord Shimura will enter from the main gate.

Don't move from your spot; wait for him to climb to the second floor. He will use a ladder to your left, and the guard stationed nearby will move away. Follow him up and use the broken window to exit onto the roof.

Circle around the roof to reach the broken window at the back and wait for Shimura to climb to the floor above. Once he does, jump inside and use the ladder to move up as well.

Use a Windchime to distract the guard looking out of the broken window towards the roof.

using concentration in ghost of tsushima

Use Concentration to see the red outlines of guards on the other side of the shoji door. Enter when the coast is clear and go through the broken shoji door on the far end of the room. Use the opening to exit onto the roof.

climbing the roof ladders in ghost of tsushima

Circle around and use the ladders to reach the very top of the building. Wait for the patrolling guard to move away before entering and using the ladder to descend. This will lead to a thin corridor with another ladder on the other end. Use it to descend to the lower level, and the location where Jin needs to leave his letter will be right behind you.

Interact with it to trigger the final cutscene. Players will receive a Major Legend Increase as a reward for finishing 'Heart of the Jito.'
