Held Items in the Pokemon universe allow a Pokemon to use a special passive ability or have a passive stat boost, among other things. A Held Item called a Razor Claw can be found in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and what it does is increase the critical hit ratio for the Pokemon that's holding it in battle, meaning that more critical hits are bound to occur, causing extra damage to the opposing Pokemon. This item can also be used to evolve a particular Sinnoh Pokemon.
By following this guide, players will learn how to find a Razor Claw in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and what it can be used for.
Updated on April 20, 2022, by Greysun Morales: Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl released on the Switch almost half a year ago, but there are always new players hopping in, even after Pokemon Legends: Arceus. There are lots of different evolutionary held items to obtain in the Sinnoh region, but one specifically is used to evolve Sneasel into Weavile, and that item is called the Razor Claw. This guide on how to get the Razor Claw in BDSP has been updated to provide more details on the Pokemon Sneasel, like where to find it, and its stats.
How to Get Razor Claw in BDSP
Victory Road
The first place players can find the Razor Claw item is inside Victory Road, the maze-like cave that trainers go through before battling the Elite Four at the Pokemon League. The easiest way to find it is by entering the cave through its back entrance near the Pokemon League and following the steps below. The Razor Claw will be inside a Poke Ball on the ground:
- Pass the purple-colored trainer and go down the rocks using Rock Climb.
- Run left but then head north at the three-way intersection with the three rocks nearby.
- Turn left at the next intersection and keep walking until a wall is hit --head south from here.
- This will lead players to a dead end, but a Poke Ball will be there that contains the Razor Claw.
Route 224
Route 224 is an area that can be found by leaving Victory Road via a different exit. This exit can only be entered once Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players defeat the Elite Four and obtain the National Dex from Rowan. This means that players will need to see all Pokemon in the Sinnoh Pokedex.
Once players make it to Route 224, they can follow the following steps to reach the Razor Claw item:
- From the Victory Road entrance, head north and then head east to reach a body of water that can be surfed on.
- Surf south against the shoreline and keep heading down.
- Eventually, a dead-end will be reached, and the Razor Claw will be inside a Poke Ball.
Battle Tower
Players can also use the shops at the Battle Tower to purchase a Razor Claw, but it will cost them 5BP, which can be obtained by winning battles in the tower.
Which Pokemon Evolves with Razor Claw?
If Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players want to acquire a Weavile, then they can catch a Sneasel and give it a Razor Claw to hold on to. If Sneasel levels up at night with the item attached to it, it will evolve into a Weavile, a Dark/Ice-type Pokemon, just like its pre-evolution.
Sneasel Location and Stats
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players can catch a wild Sneasel at the following locations: Route 216, Route 217, Acuity Lakefront, Lake Acuity, Snowpoint Temple, and the Grand Underground. For the Grand Underground specifically, check the Whiteout Cave, Icy Cave, and the Glacial Cavern biomes, but only after getting the Icicle Badge from Snowpoint Gym.
