Rune Factory is a fantasy-laden role-playing simulation series with fighting, crafting, and magic. There's a reason why one of its games was the most played Wii game in 2010; there is so much to do. They can date several of the NPCs in Rune Factory, and get married if they wish. But it's not easy, so if players are looking to get hitched in between their busy days of farming, battling, and crafting, they'll probably need help.

Getting Hitched

If players thought getting to the dating stage of Rune Factory 4 was hard, just wait until they try to get married. There is a lot of randomly generated numbers running in the background as players date, propose, or try to have children with their potential mate, and it can be extremely time consuming if players get unlucky in their rolls.

How to Start

First, players will have to be dating the Rune Factory 4 character (LINK TO MY DATING RUNE FACTORY ARTICLE ONCE LIVE) they want to marry. After that, the game doesn't give players a checklist of things they will need to get a yes to their proposal, but they'll need:

  • A Love Point (LP) Level of 10 or higher
  • Three dates with potential spouse
  • All relationship events completed

If the main character is a male, they'll also need:

  • Engagement ring
  • Double bed

That list may sound easy, but players can get lost in the tangle of relationship events, or even just have trouble topping off their LP levels. But players who are familiar with the genre, like the romances in Stardew Valley, will have some idea of how to get that LP level up with gifts and events.

Although other dating games like Dragon Age and Fire Emblem Fates allow players to date same-sex partners, Rune Factory 4 does not, so none of these events will trigger for same-sex characters in game.

How to Trigger Relationship Events

Unfortunately the relationships haven't changed from Rune Factory 4's original October 2013 release: although there are only two or three events for most characters, triggering them can be a long waiting game. Since the trigger is random, it can take in-game months or years for all of the needed relationship events to trigger. Some things players can do to help move the relationship along:

  • Don't schedule dates after the third. Relationship events won't trigger on date days or festival days.
  • Use diary to check if a relationship event is happening that day.
  • Keep potential spouse in the party. When they say they have to leave the party, check to see if a relationship event is firing.

While Rune Factory 4 has been out for years, it was released on the Nintendo Switch just this week, giving a whole new generation of players access to this dating puzzle of a RPG Sim.
