The time has finally come for Genshin Impact fans to enjoy the annual Lantern Rite update for version 4.4. A lot of rumors proved true, but not all of them, and there was also a lot of news that some players hadn't expected. Ultimately, players will get new banners, new events, and a brand-new area coming in version 4.4.

With an update this big, players have a lot of content to look forward to. The Lantern Rite is never a small deal and always has something for every kind of Genshin Impact player to enjoy. There's the promise of co-op events, seeing friends from all across Teyvat, and new world and story quests. The biggest rumor to have not come true in this patch was the one about a free skin selector, as one was not mentioned in the livestream, but that's something that could easily manifest at a later date.

Genshin Impact players can now reliably plan their Event Banner pulls with a final estimate of Primogems and Wishes coming in Version 4.4.

Genshin Impact's 4.4 Update

New Genshin 4.4 Character Banners

For the first half of update 4.4, Genshin Impact banners will include Xianyun and Nahida, both of which will have new Pyro claymore four-star character Gaming on them. In the second half of version 4.4, players can look forward to pulling for Xiao and Yae Miko. All of these units are well-loved and have their own uses, so players who've been saving up for these banners have a lot to look forward to.

Though some may worry that Xiao isn't as good as some other Anemo DPS units like Genshin Impact's Wanderer, Xianyun's kit involves boosting plunging damage. Even units like Diluc can see a comeback with damage boosts like that. Players who have Xiao and have been keeping him benched are encouraged to pay close attention to Xianyun's trial when the time comes for it to see if she's worth their Primogems.

New Lantern Rite Events

For Genshin Impact's Lantern Rite, there are also many other tiny events for players to take an interest in. They are more akin to mini-games, but they still deserve attention since Primogems and a free Xingqiu skin can be earned by completing them. Two other featured skins are coming in this patch, Genshin Impact's Shenhe and Ganyu, but they do not appear to be free and are implied to be purchasable cosmetics that will be cheaper while the event is going on.

The mini-games featured in this Lantern Rite all seem like promises of good fun for players. One such event was referred to as "Paper Theater" and shows Genshin Impact's Guoba moving across a board to obtain matsutake. Another event is a co-op event in which players gather points and compete to have the highest score. It was also mentioned in the livestream that players can mess around with each other and send them flying backward away from coins. The final Lantern Rite-specific event shows off the traveler collecting coins while flying through rings to get a high score for rewards.

The usual Lantern Rite events will be making a return, such as being able to select a free four-star character, the log-in bonuses, and wishes coming in the mail. Lantern Rite or not, however, there are other events on the way in version 4.4. The event called, "Receiver of Friends From Afar," lets players cook for their friends at the Wangshu Inn. The livestream mentioned that friends from all across Teyvat, like Genshin Impact's Charlotte, may be featured in this event. Throughout the livestream, it was easy to spot several of these possible characters.

  • Hu Tao
  • Zhongli
  • Keqing
  • Ganyu
  • Shenhe
  • Xingqiu

New Miscellaneous Events

Additionally, an event in Mondstat has players following hilichurls around to infiltrate their tribes and uncover their secrets. The livestream showed off combat would be taking place in this event too, with a massive Samachurl in the center of an arena as four players did their best to avoid blows and deal big numbers. Speaking of combat events, a domain has appeared with 8 trial characters for players to choose and select to tackle different waves of enemies.

For players who enjoy Genshin Impact's trading card game, new additions are coming in this patch as well. Characters like Sayu, Thoma, the Cryo Hypostasis, and the Millennial Pearl Seahorse were displayed in the livestream. It can be exciting as a reason to switch up new decks with these new characters and see where they best work. As usual, there will also be an Overflow event to help players build more characters and use less resin. This can be especially helpful for players who will be taking a break from farming artifacts to stock up on talent books, EXP, mora, and the like. But once players go back to artifacts, they will be pleased to see that a custom and quick loadout button to quickly equip artifacts has been added.

New Quests and Area

At long last, players can finally venture into Chenyu Vale and see Qiaoyang Village. These places have been mentioned for ages but have yet to be shown off until now. As expected with new areas, players will likely be able to look forward to new world quests exploring the world of Chenyu Vale. It was also mentioned that this is where Gaming grew up, so in the future, if he were to get a hangout, players can expect to see a lot of this new area.

On the topic of hangout quests, the new Anemo five-star Xianyun will be coming out with her own story quest in the newest version. Players can expect to hear a lot about the Adepti and explore that new lore. Liyue's lore is always exciting to dive into, especially when it's about a character players love dearly.
