Yelan is the new five-star character that will be released with Genshin Impact Version 2.7. Based in Liyue, Yelan is a mysterious individual that supposedly works for the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Despite this, none know of her true motives. It is also difficult to get a hold of her as she appears only briefly then is gone again, like an ethereal phantom.

Genshin Impact’s newest update, Hidden Dreams in the Depths, will be released on May 31. With this update comes Yelan’s limited-time Wish Banner, “Discerner of Enigmas.”

Yelan’s Abilities and Constellations in Genshin Impact

A new character trailer for Genshin Impact's Yelan was recently released, getting players excited for the newest five-star character. Her Vision is Hydro, and she’ll be wielding a Bow, making her the second character of this combination after Tartaglia. Like all Bow-users, she’s capable of performing Normal Bow Attacks and a Charged Attack. However, she has a special modifier to her Charged Attack — Breakthrough. This ability makes her aimed attacks charge up faster and deal AoE Hydro Damage after she’s spent five seconds outside of combat.

Yelan’s Elemental Skill is “Lingering Lifeline.” When activated, she’ll charge forward rapidly, passing through any opponents in her path and marking them. Once she stops, all marked enemies will be dealt Hydro Damage in Genshin Impact based on Yelan’s maximum HP. The player can prolong this attack by holding down the Elemental Skill button.

As for Yelan’s Elemental Burst, “Depth-Clarion Dice,” activating it deals AoE Hydro Damage on enemies caught within range. It also creates an “Exquisite Throw,” an aura that follows the player and does extra Hydro Damage with every Normal Attack performed. This also works with Yelan’s Elemental Skill. Lastly, Yelan has a Passive Skill in Genshin Impact that increases the active character’s Damage over time while Exquisite Throw is active.

Though Yelan’s constellations in Genshin Impact have yet to be released, there have been leaks that share the potential details of Umbrabilis Orchis. Note that these have not yet been confirmed and may change once Yelan is officially playable.

  • C1 will grant an additional charge to Yelan’s Elemental Skill, similar to characters like Sucrose.
  • C2 will add an extra attack to Yelan’s Exquisite Throw ability every 1.6 seconds, dealing damage based on her maximum HP.
  • C3 will increase her Elemental Burst Talent Level by 3.
  • C4 will increase the team’s maximum HP by 10% for 25 seconds every time an enemy marked by Lingering Lifeline explodes. This can grant up to a 40% increase in allies’ HP.
  • C5 will increase her Elemental Burst Talent Level by 3.
  • C6 will alter Yelan’s Normal Attacks every time she activates her Elemental Burst, granting them the Breakthrough ability. Thus, her Normal Attacks will become much more powerful, lasting for 20 seconds or until Yelan fires six arrows.

Yelan’s Best Weapon and Character Ascension Materials in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact character Yelan

Yelan’s best weapon will most likely be Aqua Simulacra, the newest five-star bow in Genshin Impact, which will be released alongside Genshin Impact Version 2.7. A possible alternative to this is Elegy for the End, another five-start bow that increases the wielder’s Elemental Mastery and attack power. The Favonius Warbow and Sacrificial Bow are also viable options, as their effects encourage the player to use Elemental abilities.

As for Yelan’s character ascension requirements, players should focus on getting Starconches, Runic Fangs, and Fatui Insignias. (Note that higher-level Insignias drop from the more powerful Genshin Impact Skirmishers.) Yelan’s list of ascension material requirements is as follows:

  • Varunada Lazurite Sliver (1)
  • Varunada Lazurite Fragment (9)
  • Varunada Lazurite Chunk (9)
  • Varunada Lazurite Gemstone (6)
  • Recruit's Insignia (18)
  • Sergeant's Insignia (30)
  • Lieutenant's Insignia (36)
  • Starconch (168)
  • Runic Fang (46)

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
