Events are some of the most enjoyable and busiest activities players can do in Genshin Impact. Events are also great since story or Archon quests tend to be too brief while other activities are either too repetitive or not as rewarding when it comes to Primogems. The latest event to grace the players with a rainstorm of Primogems is The Windblume Festival.

Although it's over, it was one of the most interesting and fun side activities introduced by the developers. Too bad most players are fixated on reaping the rewards that they tend to miss some of the finer details that gave the Windblume Festival more context other than Primogem outlets. Here's what many players might have missed about the Windblume Festival.

Genshin Impact Knights of Favonius Official

After the rather extensive Xiao appreciation event back in February, players probably began wondering what the Mondstadt characters were up to. Their absence was quite noticeable due to their rather dysfunctional dynamics and relationships.

The Windblume Event thus gave them the spotlight they needed and also told more stories about them. Thirteen playable characters from the Knights of Favonius to third-party figures as well as a god finally had their much-needed event for 2021.

9 Amber And Noelle Had The Least Amount Of Participation

Genshin Impact Noelle With A Teapot

Of course, there are so many Mondstadt characters that not all of them were able to be seen in the story quests for the Windblume Festival. Amber and Noelle notably appeared only in one respective quest each, making their participation a bit sparse.

That's quite an odd choice since the two characters are some of the hardest working members of the Knights of Favonius. Meanwhile, other characters like Klee, Diona, Fischl, and Mona weren't even part of the main questline for the Windblume Festival though probably for understandable reasons, especially when it comes to Klee.

8 It's More Akin To Valentine's Day

Genshin Impact: Peculiar Wonderland Guide

What kind of an occasion is the Windblume Festival? It's pretty close to the real world's Valentine's Day. The Windblume Festival is all about improving a person's relationship with their loved ones. So if they don't have a loved one, then it's also an opportunity for them to find them.

That shouldn't be too hard in an anime-based game where everyone looks at least above-average. That's also why Barbara's stalkers and fan's club members are buzzing around her like flies. At the heart of the festival is Venti or Barbatos, whose preference for freedom and drunken revelry complements the event all too well.

7 Cape Oath Is A Busy Place During The Festival

As with festivals or holidays involving the concept of love or relationships, Windblume Festival makes some private or quiet spots in Mondstadt more "special." On Valentine's Day, those busy and bustling places would be parks, theaters, or hotels.

In Mondstadt, that place, apart from Barbatos' giant statue, is Cape Oath. It's that huge inclined plateau at the southeastern-most tip of Mondstadt that leads to a cliff. Most of the time, this place is heavily infested with Hilichurls, although the risk is probably part of the excitement; oh to be young again.

6 It's A Slow Day For The Adventurer's Guild

Windblume Festival is not just about romantic love but also selflessness. Helping others to improve social relations is highly encouraged, though achieving that can be difficult for Mondstadtians.

In fact, The Windblume Festival is an oddly slow event for the Adventurer's Guild. In theory, they ought to be brimming with commissions and assistance requests but because everyone's probably out to help others, they're likely not asking for help themselves.

5 Its Roots Are From A Rebellion

The Windblume Festival has a rather violent origin; its conception can be traced back to when Mondstadt had a different Archon named Decarabian. He was considered by his subjects as a tyrant ruler and was thus overthrown by Barbatos and his supporters (pretty much all of Mondstadt).

Hence, Barbatos' victory over Decarabian was marked by the Windblume Festival. That's also why Barbatos is the main subject of the Windblume Festival, as he represented freedom more than anything else, being Archon of the Wind.

4 Windblume Means Wind Flower

Genshin Impact Mist Flowers

As for the name of the festival itself, Windblume, it's actually German for the English words, "wind flower." That's should be pretty obvious since Mondstadt is all about winds. It's literally called the City of Windmills.

More than that, it's a good nod to the Wind or Anemo Archon, Barbatos who liberated the people of Mondstadt from the tyranny of the previous Archon. Thus, Wind Flower has come to represent many things in Mondstadt. All of them are positive.

3 It's Named After Flowers That Don't Exist

Genshin Impact Sucrose Flowers

As for why Windblume or Wind Flower, the said flower is supposedly not real and only existed in people's dreams as a "floaty" flower of sorts. It never really physically existed. Still, the said floaty flower seems to appear in a backdrop of cold or windy places that are harsh.

It became known as an imaginative flower that thrived in brutal environments. Hence, the rebels of Mondstadt, the wisp Barbatos included along with a drunken bard used Windblume as their code as it represented their resilience and yearning for freedom under oppression and slavery.

2 People Of Mondstadt Have Their Own Windblumes

Despite Windblume supposedly being fictional and only a dream flower in Mondstadt, many people have theorized that it was actually one of the native flowers in the region. The candidates are Dandelion, Windwheel Aster, Cecilia, Sweet Flower, Small Lamp Grass, and Wolfhook. None of them have been proven to be the Windblume.

Even brilliant minds such as Sucrose have been trying to crack the identity of this Windblume flower. The best she came up with was that the Windblume is a big and extinct variant of the Sweet Flower. Everyone else has their own different theory or hypothesis for what the Windblume actually is in Mondstadt.

1 Venti Makes It An Opportunity To Buy Limited Edition Wines

Genshin Impact Venti With Instrument

Of all the abundant things in The Windblume Festival, one that probably best caught the attention of the Anemo Archon is the dizzying amount of wine. Not just wine but limited-edition versions of the Mondstadt specialties, probably courtesy of Diluc.

As such, Venti makes every Windblume Festival a rare wine buffet where he probably hoards enough premium liquor to last him until the next Windblume. That or he might be chugging all of them in one day. He's not known for restraint and discipline, after all.
