Early on in Genshin Impact, the player will be directed to go and visit Mondstadt's blacksmith. He's a bit short with the player and doesn't seem to value small talk, but Paimon assures the Traveller that he'll be useful on the journey as one of Mondstadt's important shops. Trading ores to the blacksmith rewards the players with weapon enhancement materials used to upgrade weapons.

Leveling up weapons is a really important aspect of Genshin Impact. Players can have amazing five-star characters at their disposal, but if their weapons are underleveled or sub-par, it won't matter much. A lot of weapon enhancement materials can be found simply by exploring the world, but it helps to have a reliable source of getting more as well.

The first encounter with the blacksmith can be a little misleading, as he turns Iron Chunks into standard Enhancement Ore, a weak material that only provides 400 weapon experience. This is fairly mediocre given the time it takes to do, but if players bring him White Iron Chunks, he can make an upgraded version called Fine Enhancement Ore that provides 2,000 weapon experience.

White Iron Chunk Appearance

White Iron Chunks can be found out in the wild, but there are a few places where they spawn in great abundance. First, players should look in Wolvendom area, particularly on the paths leading up to Stormterror's lair. Quite a few ore deposits spawn here and should respawn each day. Next, large quantities of White Iron Chunks can also be found on Stormbearer's Mountain and Stormbearer's Point as well, though these areas might be a little more difficult to travel in.

Those areas are recommended by the game itself, but players have found a few other areas where White Iron Chunks seem to spawn frequently. In the Dihua Marsh, there are rocky areas that frequently have clusters of White Iron Chunks, and some players have even reported finding them in the Musk Reef, though this area is difficult to get to, especially early on. Players wanting a lot of this material simply need to check back at these locations daily and mine whatever they can find.

It's important to remember that three White Iron Chunks are required to forge one Fine Enhancement Ore, so players will definitely want to stock up on as much as they can. Also, it helps to use a character with a heavy weapon, Claymore (players can get Noelle guaranteed from the Beginner's Wish), or to use Amber's bombs to instantly destroy the ore.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.
