Genshin Impact's most recent character announcement has apparently broken a couple of popularity records on the game's official social media accounts. The new part of the playable roster, the Wanderer, is a very familiar face who has already made numerous appearances in the game's official storyline.

This official reveal has confirmed that the Wanderer will arrive in the upcoming Genshin Impact version 3.3 alongside another character named Faruzan. Update 3.3 is expected to drop around December 10, at least according to HoYoverse's recently adjusted update schedule.

Genshin Impact usually reveals its new character additions one whole update cycle before their official arrival. For example, the Wanderer was announced on October 31 and even though Genshin Impact version 3.2 is scheduled for November 2, he will skip this whole update. His official announcement has apparently broken Yae Miko's record for being the most retweeted post on the game's official Japanese account. Soon after that, the Wanderer's announcement became the most-liked tweet on the game's official English account with over 382k likes at the moment.

The majority of the fan base doesn't seem to be surprised about these records considering that Wanderer, previously known as Scaramouche, has been one of the most popular characters in Genshin Impact since its release. He made his first appearance during update 1.1 in which he pretended to be a friendly character but after sensing his true evil intentions, the Traveler and his friends managed to escape the scene.

The ongoing Sumeru storyline has revealed more information about this unique character who has one of the most tragic stories in the game. The Wanderer was originally planned to be Inazuma Archon, but Ei sent him away after assuming that he might be too weak for this important role. After years of wandering around the world of Teyvat, he joined the infamous Fatui organization where he became known as the 6th Fatui Harbinger. One specific detail about the Wanderer's official art caught many players by surprise.

Despite being known as an Electro character, he will apparently be able to control the Anemo element thanks to a new Vision displayed on his chest. While there is still no official information about his kit, the Wanderer is expected to be one of the strongest characters in the game due to his importance to the overall storyline. When it comes to his role within a team comp, he will most likely be a new Genshin Impact DPS character.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
