For the past week, Chinese gamers have been enjoying a special event for miHoYo’s multiplatform roleplaying title Genshin Impact. Launched on November 2 and running through November 10, the Stone Harbor Treasure Journal event is unique in that it can only be played in web browsers and the story is presented in a visual novel-esque chibi style.

When the event launched in China, miHoYo simultaneously announced on Twitter that Stone Harbor Treasure Journal will be coming to the US, although the specific date and time were not revealed. It seems somewhat likely that the web event may launch on November 11, the day after it ends in China.

Stone Harbor Treasure Journal stars two of the new characters, Zhongli and Childe, who will be added to the game in Genshin Impact’s Update 1.1, “A New Star Approaches,” which launches on November 11. The text-based adventure sends players on a number of small jobs around the pier and city of Liyue and will result in a total reward of 200 Primogems and 50,000 Mora at the end of the event.

Players can select Zhongli or Childe to assist in the daily tasks, and the character selected will have an impact on the way the story unfolds. Rewards, however, will remain the same. Players will only receive one job attempt per day during the Stone Harbor Treasure Journal event, but completing specific tasks can open up three additional job attempts.

Stone Harbor Treasure Journal doesn’t only consist of running around mindlessly completing small jobs for Liyue inhabitants. The event also includes a side story, which isn’t canon to events in Genshin Impact's main story but serves mainly as an entertaining divergence and provides a bit of fan service to players.

One potential issue, as reported by Chinese players who are participating in the Genshin Impact event, is that PS4 gamers may be left out in the cold. In the past, when miHoYo has distributed promo codes as bonuses to be used in game, the codes haven’t worked on the PS4. After completing all Stone Harbor Treasure Journal event tasks, players have stated that they’ve received a code to redeem for their rewards, and this doesn’t bode well for PS4 players.

Hopefully, miHoYo is working to remedy this situation, which leaves a large portion of its playerbase unable to fully participate in special events like Stone Harbor Treasure Journal or reap the benefits. One possible solution to this would be to allow PS4 players to launch the web browser from within the game, as it does with the Genshin Impact player surveys periodically sent out through in-game mail. This method allows PS4 players who participate in the surveys to be correctly compensated.

Genshin Impact is available on mobile, PC, PS4, and will also be coming to PS5 and Switch.
